Oh sweet Cthulu, no. This almost always ends in disaster.

But let me guess, the new people are acting like they're being left out of everything because they're left out of two plots that aren't going to last forever?

To be fair, if it's hard to build some CR starting out, it does make it much harder to fit into the game in the long run. So it is a valid complaint if it's hard for new people to get involved in something.

But dropping everything every time new people come in makes it hard to ever finish a plot properly. This is how you get games where plots just seem to stop and everyone just drops off like cars off an unfinished bridge. Because everything has to stop so the new people don't feel left out! They can't wait a week or two or anything, or spend time doing their own thing. They have to be right in the middle of everything and if stuff is happening, it has to stop to let them in.

Earlier anon, and that's what I meant by the having a climax point. Making all plots equally open at all points is what leads to generic bland jamjars plots. I don't feel like blaming anyone, it's just unfortunate.

which is the problem every system of law plot goes through in every game. why do people even bother

character a and their friends: we should follow a modern american justice system because anything else is barbaric and wrong

character b and their friends: we should use force and corporal punishment to keep people in line because nothing else will

character c and friends: i'm gonna go live in the forest

every goddamn time

This time it was more like:

Character A and their friends: Hey is it at all possible to get some basic lists of things that are wrong and how we're going to stop them up in this crazy place?

Everyone Else: No, also one of us is having an emotional breakdown because drops + events.

So, I mean... at least that's different?

Don't forget Character D and co: Screw you you don't actually have any authority here

some of those characters in that plot have literally never interacted before that log, though. anyone who's writing this off as "cliques" is severely overreacting.

nine times out of ten, accusations of cliquishness basically boiled out to selfish babies whining "but what about ME?"

not to mention if it was cliques trying to circlejerk the log would've actually gone somewhere instead of blowing up in the first few tags lmao

so many babies in this game smdh this is why no one in dwrp actually tries to take initiative on anything anymore

it would also have made it much further if not for certain people making it all about their character drama

shit, at least wg has rules now, rather than letting shitposters go wild. sure, it might take a bit, and only really works if you actually report shit, but at least it's there. the mods here don't do shit unless it's something that could get the comm nuked by denise.

You have to admit it's a little disappointing to join a new game only to find out all of the older players are tied up in intensive plots with past CR. Not end of the world disappointing, but people get excited to get started then wind up not getting tagged or having much to tag into for a month or more. It's a little cold water on the enthusiasm and not the best scheduling on the mods' parts for new arrivals.

Sure, it's disappointing, but obviously this disappointment has created some sort of drama in the game, and that shouldn't have happened. There will always be something that is disappointing, whether it's an event you can't be a part of, or an event that didn't go the way you hoped, a character you liked gets dropped, your CR disappears, etc. I just wish DWRP could learn to handle disappointment without turning it into a dramafest where everyone has to ~fix it~ for them.
