WHAT ARE YOUR TOP 5 (OR 10) FAVORITE CHOCOLATES?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-28 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
i don't care how widespread or obscure it is, tell me about it! even if it's only available in your country or online.

i'd love it if you guys could describe any of the more obscure chocolates, like saying what's in them. (caramel, nougat, peanut butter, etc.)

not exactly high quality but i'm really partial to this brand. the chocolate isn't overly sweet (usually boxed chocolates are so sugary they make my teeth hurt and these usually don't) and they make it easy to avoid chocolates with nasty mystery fillings by having boxes of all caramels, solids, etc.

2. andes mints
3. a now defunct chocolatier in my hometown had a handmade crunchy layered thing called a peanut butter rapture, and I have no idea how it was actually put together but DAMN
4. chocolates with cherries & cordial in
5. homemade peppermint bark, with an underlayer of milk or dark chocolate, and only a thin layer of white chocolate, and fat candy cane chunks
6. those wafer-chocolate cigarillo things

2. andes mints
3. dark chocolate peppermint bark
4. these don't taste that strongly of chocolate, but those half-pink sweets from meiji? (https://zomgcandy.files.wordpress.com/2007/08/food-blog-pictures-015.jpg) not sure of the actual name.
5. ritter sport! i'm weak to their biscuits too, but my favorite is just those 70% dark chocolate squares.

There's only one chocolate I buy now and that's white chocolate Reese's eggs, hearts, trees, whatever.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-29 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)

I mostly only eat funsized Milky Ways (not the American version, here it's a small bar of very light nougat dipped in chocolate) to handle my chocolate cravings.

I really love anything with cherries and syrup in it though.

Chocolate is a very serious thing

So I was doomed to be a choco-holic from an early age thanks to my mom and nana both working in chocolate factories.

1. My absolute favorite is the peanut butter cups my mom's company makes. Instead of the crumbly peanut butter you get from Reese's, the PB is smooth. The company does "store brands" and I know you can find them at Trader Joe's in the US.

Other than that:

2. Ferrero Rocher
3. Lindor Truffles
4. Caramel cashew clusters
5. Plain dark chocolate bars

I'm not a big fan of anything Hershey does. Even though my nana worked for Hershey and I got a lot of free stuff, as I got older, it's far too sweet for me.

dude, sweet chocolate is my all time fave as a once in a while treat: http://dudesweetchocolate.com

almost all of it is locally made, so it's a bit pricy, but worth it

the eyetalian toffee, the drinking chocolate and the loco for coco bars are my all time faves

Not in any particular order, but I can't resist talking about some of my faves:

Seattle Chocolate's Meltaway Mint Truffle Bar. ofc they're local to Seattle. Most chocolate mint bars are dark chocolate and/or have things like chunks of candy cane in them, but this one is just smooth, delicious milk chocolate truffle infused with mint. I said this was in no particular order but this is definitely my #1 fave.

Fazerina; this is an orange milk chocolate bar from Finland. Someone mailed me some in an online candy exchange once, and then again as a gift later when I expressed how much I loved them, and I haven't had them since. They're soooo good. Terry's milk chocolate oranges are also right up there as far as orange chocolate goes.

Gusto Balsamic Vinegar Bar by Forte Chocolates. A bar of white chocolate infused with 20-year aged balsamic vinegar. Sounds pretty wild, but it's soooo good.

Rum nougats from See's; these are chocolate-box style pieces with milk chocolate, nougat, dried cherries, walnuts, and of course rum. They're pretty boozy and extremely delicious.

Madecasse 80% Madagascar cocoa bar. (I do like dark chocolate, just not with anything else in it.) Definitely the best dark chocolate I've ever had. It has a very unique flavor. Nothing but very dark chocolate here.

I am probably making myself super obvious but I am into Chocolate Line chocolates and I am in deep. Some of my favorites are
-Italian javanais: dark chocolate with layers of basil, olive, and sun dried tomato marzipan
-Atlanta: dark chocolate with cola-infused ganache and pop rocks
-apple: with apple balsamic caramel and Granny Smith praline
And something with a lavender marzipan that I forget the name of.

Otoh I'm hankering for a Reese's take five bar something fierce right now.

1. KitKat with peanut butter
2. Milka (plain milk or Happy Cows)
3. Regular KitKat
4. Bounty/Snickers/Twix
5. any melty milk chocolate tbh

Ritter sport, especially the cocoa mousse and praline ones
Lindt 70%+ and Salted Caramel Nice To Sweet You (also the peanut butter balls but they seem to have disappeared)
Galaxy Cookie Crumble
Classic Cadbury's Dairy Milk (as in before the ownership change classic)
And the last brand has gone completely out of my mind but it's a chocolate bar with cherry pieces in that I get from a local health food store.
