rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. loving green lantern is suffering.

i'm glad for the good stuff happening to other books, though!

When was the last time Green Lantern was good? I sort of tuned out when Vendetti got the book and nothing's really looked worth getting into.

venditti's run has mostly been ideas that might be cool but then get executed like crap and everything is a letdown. it got a little better when hal first got back to earth (he rebooted sonar and i liked that?) and then sucked hard when parallax dropped in from convergence (i don't know how you make that showdown so boring).

once things relaunch venditti will be on the corps book so i expect more of the same, although at least EVS is back on art which i look forward to. humphries is going to be doing the main GL book, which is supposed to be simon and jessica having buddy cop adventures. i'm cautiously optimistic for that but unfamiliar with his existing work so i don't know what to expect there.

the one GL thing recently that i do wholeheartedly recommend is the darkseid war tie-in! it stands alone fine even if you haven't been keeping up with justice league, and it's really one of the single best issues in forever. i figured tom king would be on batman but i really wanted him on GL just because his take on hal was fantastic.

I'll check out the Darkseid War tie-in. I fell behind with the event but what I saw looked really cool.

Regarding Humphries, anon, his Cosmic Marvel work is really bad. Like as much as Bendis gets shit on for ruining earlier Cosmic Marvel, Humphries takes Bendis' bad ideas and just runs them even further into the ground. I hate to be a giant downer, and I love the idea of Simon doing more since despite Johns clearly liking the character, he didn't have much time or do much to really give him a solid footing, but I wouldn't get my hopes up here.

goddamn. well, i'm continuing to read venditti because i hate myself, so i'll give it a shot and see what happens, but consider myself forewarned.
