Trapped in the city of one loo

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

Do you guys have like that one super minor physical thing that nobody else would ever notice in a million years and you know it, butyou're still kinda self-conscious about it?

I have this hair follicle on my wrist in the middle of a freckle, and the hair that comes out of it is noticeably thicker and darker than the rest of my arm hair. I know no one will ever notice it, but it still drives me crazy and it's hard not to pick at it.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-25 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, of course! I feel like this is super common. I have different colored eyebrows (one is bleach blond, the other light brown) so I always feel like my face is totally fucked up if I haven't filled them in, but no one else has ever ~naturally noticed my brows without prompting, so I know it's mostly in my head.

Just pluck the hair when you notice it if it bothers you! I have a little pair of tweezers I leave in my bag for just that kind of thing.

i have one of those freckle-hairs on my arm, too! i kinda like it, though.

the little thing i'm self-conscious about is the gap between my front teeth. i've never had anyone comment on it and i'm betting most people don't even notice it nor think it's unusual, but i'm very aware of it every time i smile.

I think front teeth gaps are adorable.

Yeah, I have a tiny birthmark on my uppe4 arm that looks exactly, and I mean EXACTLY, like the mcdonalds arches. No one ever says anything, but it's embarrassing.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-25 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
i'm sorry, but that's hilarious

I have one "asian" eye and one "caucasian" eye, by which I mean one is monolid and the other is not (I'm half of each ethnically, it's literally like each parent gave me one of theirs). It causes me unbearable self-consciousness.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-25 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I had a tumor on my eyelid when I was an infant and again when I was a toddler so I have scarring on that which makes my eyes look not symmetrical but I can camafaluge it with eyeliner for the most part.

I was also self conscious about some spacing in my teeth that's visible from the side, some crookedness, and the fact that my front tooth didn't match the other (broke both when I was a kid so now the fillings have stained different amounts and don't match the general shape) and while no one really notices, even my very appearance critical mom, I am getting braces to fix the bite/straighten, boding to close the gaps all the way, and getting the front teeth redone... Expensive but worth it imo

I also have the arm hair freckles lol

I have several moles on my face. Most people are nice enough not to say anything, but I can tell when people stare at them. And little kids, they make comments sometimes.

I'm fat and hairy and neither of these things bother me, but the miles on my face? That is the one thing I lose my chill about.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-27 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
have you considered saving up to get them removed?

i feel you as somebody who has only a single mole on their face but multiple body moles. i swear, i got one of the fuckers removed because it was in a bra strap area so my insurance would cover it and another grew back like an inch away! in less than a year!

i'm getting this new one removed too but i'm feeling pretty bootyblasted.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-27 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
getting them removed might not be a bad idea, i used to have a mole near the tip of my nose that i got removed in sixth grade because i was always badly bullied for it.. it took 10 minutes to remove & was completely painless but now i sort of regret it because it would it have given me something unique to my looks.

i also have a mole on the side of chin. my mom used to hang posters of cindy crawford in my room to make me feel better about myself, but these days i like it..

i have the beginnings of this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dermatosis_papulosa_nigra

it runs on my mom's side of the family

only a few under each eye so far (thank god) and they're dark brown so they look like freckles from a distance, but i'm terrified of it getting worse with age

i also have eczema on both knees

for what it's worth, i've always thought morgan freeman's spots were really charming

+1

one of my better foster parents was dark-skinned and she had them and i never thought anything about it. but i think the difference between me and the anon i replied to's judgement on it and the op's of this is that op has watched themselves get them. they're not just a part of them that we accept at face value. there's that transformation where they notice it, whereas we just see morgan freeman and the people we meet (usually) as having had them already and don't think anything of it.

i can sort of relate in that i've been getting larger, darker freckles as i get older and i've gotten a few on my face that are prominent and i've noticed when they just show up. it bugs me, but no one else seems to notice or care.

Just a question: have you gotten the new freckles checked out by a doctor? It could be the beginning sings of skin cancer.

Or it could just be new freckles, but 'large' and 'dark' both set off alarm bells for me.

hah, no. i'm not too keen on healthcare professionals. but they're 'large and dark' as in they're not those almost creamy colored slightly darker than skintone freckles. they're not huge and non-circular. just dark and large enough to be noticed, like on my cheek just under my eye. i think if it was worth noting, my doctor would have said something by now.

thank you anon

I have a bright white discoloration/"stain" on my front left tooth, and a minor brown discoloration on the right front tooth, both from braces.

Otherwise my teeth are pretty straight and white, but the fact that my two front teeth are spotted has basically destroyed my self-confidence :/ I have a hard time smiling in pictures, and when I do they're all I see, even smiling in front of others is tough. I know it's A. irrational, B. not something other people notice/would ever comment on, and C. easily fixable, but I don't want to shell out the $$$ for facets.

On of my eyelids hangs lower than the other. I feel like it gives me a doopy look like a cartoon character who is meant to look stupid. I pointed it out to my family once though and they said they didn't notice (though since I've pointed it out they comment on it when they notice now, thanks family).

I also have acne scarring. It's better now since I got a chemical peel done (also made a surgery scar on my face look a little better) but I still feel self-conscious about it.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-28 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
One of my eyelids droops down a bit more than the other. idk if anyone else ever notices it since nobody ever mentions it, but I always see it and am incredibly self-conscious about it.
