rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

guys, what motivates or inspires you to get productive (with rp/writing) when you're feeling down

i can't seem to get out of this rut i'm in no matter how much i try and psyche myself up

Well I personally can't write shit if I'm feeling depressed at all. No clue how some people write so much when they seem to be dealing with that stuff. I know everyone's different but I get so completely blocked I can't do it at all.

Maybe canon review? That's how I usually get inspired for a character again when I do want to RP.

reviewing canon or reading old threads
listening to music (eg. character playlists)
i know people here knock visualosities but i find scrolling through those can jog my motivation if i have one
super long video game streams always save my writing motivation. things like sgf's game night streams or full vinesauce vods.

Sometimes I need to go somewhere else physically, like dragging my laptop out to a coffee place, or just setting up somewhere else in my apartment. Getting up and doing other things like washing the dishes or cleaning with music on sometimes gets me in the writing mindset again.

Also chiming in for canon review and listening to music that makes you think of your characters, and adding: go easy on yourself. Creativity is a source of energy like anything else is, and sometimes creativity gets low. Trying too hard just makes you more frustrated. You'll get there.
