rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Caillou is incredibly whiny and you'd better believe the kids imitate him. He's also ridiculously helpless for his supposed age.

Everything about Caillou makes perfect sense when you realize that the original books the show is based on are about an infant but for some reason they made him four without adjusting anything when they did the cartoon.

I have a lot of friends with children under five and most of them seem to judge children's programming on "it's not Caillou" even more than "it's not Barney" was ever a thing. He's mostly banned from their households for modelling bad behaviour and generally irritating the shit out of the parents.

Like other anon said, Caillou is an extremely shrill, whiny brat who throws tantrums to get his way. And his parents just indulge him, too. He never goes to time-out or anything like that. Throwing a tantrum just gets him the things he wants.

I know a lot of parents who have outright banned the show after their kids started imitating him, including one kid who started being really nasty to his baby sister after watching the show (Caillou has a baby sister he's not very nice to but never really gets punished for it). The age group Caillou is directed at WILL imitate him and he's not someone you want a kid to imitate.
