Trapped in the city of one loo

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

ohmygod crack to grimdark whiplash...you and another anon both used that phrase and that perfectly describes the way it feels. I agree.

I'm glad op brought all this up and we can have a rational discussion about it. I like the CR I have but I'm burning out on the game itself because of this schedule. one of the above anons is also right, this is the complete opposite of having 500 event-reaction posts, and tbh I'd rather have the latter because that only ever mildly annoyed me.

what was really telling was one of the recent events where everyone still had use of the network to contact each other, and yet there wasn't a single network post during the event. I think it was the ghosts? I was wondering why no one was warning the colony at large about what the ghosts could do to people.

ayrt (uh unless i'm using that acrynym wrong, sorry!)

i absolutely agree. while i get the appeal of throwing an entire event in a log (other games do this too to cut down on clutter, but i've never ever seen them turn into nothing but the whole game basically like has happened with cerealia), when it was people posting about said game-wide event, it was easy enough to ignore it and do something different if said event didn't jive. or you wanted to do it another way, or you had something timed for a different part of it, etc.

agreed on the latter point too. seriously the way cerealia works right now, i wonder what the point in even having the network is. the whole game is nothing but event logs: the intro log, the end-of-month event log for intro months (with the exception of not having one this month), and the big fuck-all month-long one on non-intro months (which may not be timed for all month, but that's all that will happen in said month). sure, you'll get a few one-off posts, or a couple other logs, but overall the entire culture of the game is centered on events.

that, or the only thing you'll get aside from plot events (which on principle, are fine, but intros don't even affect the plot at all) are player-run SOL "events"/plots that make me really question how important continuity and development even really is here.
