Trapped in the city of one loo

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

INUGAMI

Thoughts so far?

i'm hoping the game gets advertised more to bring in new players, because i haven't seen about a third of the taken list around at all. it hasn't even been two weeks yet though, so maybe activity will pick up.

the only thing i'm a bit disappointed about is the event, which feels too similar to a past event except there's multiple dogs instead of just one. but i'm very happy that the characters are given an opportunity to figure out how to defeat them instead of situations like before where characters just react and sit around coping. hopefully the game gets fleshed out more with new additions such as a forest to explore and a principal that's finally shown his face.

Gotta say, I am not feeling this new tryhard writing vibe with the events and the way they gently degraded the initially announced event ("that wimpy event"), and then halfway through the current event, announce extra things that they should have organized better from the start.

Seconding the poor writing. It's comprehensible but very clunky and doesn't do a very good job of conveying the important information without getting bogged down by "spooky" details.

TBH I think the game's just on its way to dying again. The mod team seems pretty earnest and it looks like they're really giving it their best but it was an uphill battle in the first place with the dwindling playerbase and lukewarm atmosphere even before the game closed.

The current playerbase is way too small to sustain anything and half the people who did come back seem inactive. Game reopenings are tough even with a stellar mod team and I think the current team is just too disorganized and inexperienced to pull it off. Nice effort but not enough.

i feel like they've got an good idea for where they want to take the game but that they chose to open with a white day event that's so benign followed by the sudden 'AHA FOOLED YOU' second part was... strange? offputting? the delivery was odd and seems like they're trying too hard to shake the reputation of sol events.

that it happened in feburary/march also hurt them, i think. i don't remember seeing any sort of advertisement for inugami either in between the game closing and it reopening; they might have done better if they had waited or put more effort into advertising/polishing before coming out of the gate.

but yeah, i definitely agree with that last paragraph and it pains me to be one of those inactive people but i just... couldn't get myself interested.

i wanted to get back into inugami, i really did, but it's just not happening when things are like this.

What kind of things would you like to see? Do you have any ideas on what might rekindle your interest?

For me, at this point it's on the mod team to shape up that decides whether I'm going to play in the game. For the large number of mods, everything's been disappointingly disorganized. There's been no advertising, questions and clubs request have been ignored, lists were filled with mistakes that players had to catch, and posts aren't being proofread for clarity. Advertising especially: even the best premise and mod team means nothing if there are no players.

basically everything the dda above me said. i know it's also up to the players to really make a game work and that it's stupid to wait around for others to test the waters first, but i can imagine why not many people really grabbed this event. the fact that there's such little activity is pretty disheartening and doesn't look great.

tbh my doubts started back when they announced the new mods. there's so many of them and iirc they said they run decisions with every single mod before finalizing them, so maybe that's why things have been so slow if they're actually sticking to that? that kind of system isn't gonna hold.
