Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Re: Templars Gone Wild?

There are actually people who find this fun? I'm cringing just reading the plurks with them all talking about this hot mess.

Aren't templars supposed to be more resistant to red lyrium than everyone else? Why is this happening to them and not, say, the mages?

Re: Templars Gone Wild?

One man's treasure? Not too long ago, everyone pretty much anonymously complained about there being no conflict.

They are more resistant to lyrium but you forget that in these battle logs, they've been battling for hours out there apparently. So it took it's toll on them, namely Cade. Alayre is just beyond stressed out since thinks he almost died for hopeless cause.

The mage's did experience some things here and there I think. Not really haven't been following them.

Though, why are you so concerned, anon? I'm curious.

nayrt, but I'm concerned because what other players do effects everyone. Cade is one thing, because from what I've seen his character seems meant to be unhinged and his mun is interested in IC consequences, but Alayre is (was?) their leader. Meanwhile Alayre-mun seems to want him to be respected, won't shut up in meta or OOC discussions about how fair and reasonable he is, yet plays him in a way that makes him look immature, malicious, or insane. He recently went from ranting about heathens to embracing diversity in a single post. I don't know if he's just a bad RPer or what, but it's making the whole organization look ridiculous.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-18 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
pretty much this.

this isn't a typical jamjar where your character has cr with canonmates and whoever else you choose to cultivate it with. there's assumed cr all over the place and a culture and society that all the (nonrifter) characters are a part of.

alayre just flipped his lid in front of everyone in skyhold. norrington may be giving the orders for now, but alayre hasn't been taken off duty. he still holds a leadership role and is out there doing shit. is everyone just supposed to be okay with this? not just whoever's involved in the plot, but everyone who witnessed that post? are his fellow templars supposed to keep following his lead? are his superiors supposed to pretend that he's still able to be trusted to do his job? what about mages, most of whom are terrified of/hate templars anyway?

cade tried to beat an innocent mage to death because he's being so badly affected by red lyrium. what's the fallout of that going to be? what does it say about how red lyrium is or should be affecting other people? how long are the effects on cade going to last? what are the other templars, the mages, hell, the seekers going to do with him now?

"shut up and scroll on" is fine for a jamjar, or for the few characters in this game who honestly have no stake in any of this or wouldn't care. for many others, it's downright ooc to just roll our eyes and ignore. high-consequence plots like these pull all of us in whether we'd choose to engage or not. it's part of what makes the game unique and interesting, but it's very frustrating when the players involved don't seem to want real consequences for their characters' actions, don't seem to consider how these consequences go beyond their inner circle of cr or try to work things out ooc ahead of time, or are just bafflingly inconsistent in their characterization.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-18 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Why assume that the players intend to ignore consequences though? I don't think anyone means for these actions to be limited to an inner circle. There were complaints about the game being too peaceful for what it was, and now a few people are taking steps to make it less so. Nobody's looking for instant gratification, just furthering conflict.

that's a hell of a lot of assumptions you're making there. why not wait for everything to unfold before making a judgment?

Re: +1

(Anonymous) 2016-02-18 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
The only thing baffingly about this is your assumptions. Assumptions make an ass out of you and you certainly seem like a complete asshole.

I can also tell you're not reading any of the ooc plurks about this plot, so kindly step the fuck off.

Bye, bitch

i'm not worried about most of the templar muns wrt consequences. it's alayre mun i'm not sure will try to dodge them w/ how they talk about him ooc or wtf ever is going on with them.

Alayre's mum hasn't dodged any responsibility icly or oocly, though. That hate boner you have is hilarious. I think I know who you are.

i'm gonna have to take all of this with a grain of salt, because you got enough facts wrong here that you obviously don't have a great handle on the overall situation.

alayre is still a leader because he hasn't been forced to step down by the rest of the templar order. he hasn't changed rank at all, really. the only thing that the mages were able to do was have norrington represent the templars instead of alayre. people are obviously not okay with it, there were the requests submitted for alayre to step down by the mage council, and his superiors can't do shit because he...doesn't really have any? the templar order is a hot mess right now, the pecking order is in shambles, and that's something that's been discussed ICly and OOCly. basically: the inquisition has limited authority over the order as things stand.

cade didn't try to beat an innocent mage to death. the person in question wasn't a mage, first of all. secondly, the other person instigated the fight with the purpose of setting cade off. obviously, this doesn't excuse an attempted murder, but it's not like he just suddenly started beating the shit out of some random person for no reason. the person pushed first, and continued to push, and surprise, cade snapped. as for the consequences, cade's mun has said that they expect cade to receive ic consequences, and will accept what the others decide to do with him. this isn't a case of him trying to kill someone out of the blue and expecting to get off free.

so if you're not going to shut up and scroll at least stop eyerolling for long enough to read.

i'm not involved even remotely in any of the templar business but i've been having a blast reading about the stuff that's been going on? no one is being forced into any reading or participating in any of the plots, so just unfollow and move on if it's such a big issue.

i wish the mages had more internal debates and shit going on right now. maybe when people start messing around with the rift magic on purpose?

i'm looking forward to it, the last mage council decision that was fun to read was on the uniforms. color coordination is vital to the success of the council.

imp is an actual player who is a legit autistic and is infamous for crying about how things should be "fun" aka the way she wants them to be and fuck what anyone else wants. also the excuse for why everybody should play with her furry that even three rejections from rekindled couldn't stop her from thinking was good
