I play Damianos, and I'm looking for castmates. So far I've only seen like one other Damen and a couple of Laurents around. I'm definitely interested in shipping with Laurent, and also bro times with Nikandros or whoever else (though this fandom is rare enough that I'm not really going to get my hopes up for anything beyond the main pairing lol.)

PSLs, memes, whatever. I'm very flexible as far as format and tagging speed. I've read the entire trilogy but I can restrain myself from spoiling things if necessary.

If you don't mind waiting a little, I've actually been thinking of making an account for Nikandros (I love that he's a stubborn, devoted friend and so quick to defend Damen and his honour. Laurent's convo with the cloth merchants in the Charls & Charls chapter killed me, too). I'll need time to reread and comb over analytically, but otherwise! None of my normal circle have read Captive Prince, and I have so many feelings after book 3... ♥

I don't mind waiting at all! Nikandros may know nothing about cloth, but he doesn't hesitate to call a King out on his shit, and Damen trusts him not to tiptoe around him. THEY'RE SO GREAT. I love pretty much the entire cast of characters in Captive Prince. I don't remember the last time that happened haha.

None of my friends have read it either, so I've just kind of been squealing into the void about how much I love this series. So many feelings, yes.

I know what you mean about the cast! Jokaste was an amazing surprise, I have to say.

So many shitty choices, Damen, and yet somehow it all works out. I wonder what Nikandros would make of the final confrontation with Kastor -- Damen still being unable to fight Kastor despite everything, Laurent saving the day and putting an end to it (because he trained specifically to kill Damianos), the fact that Kastor would have escaped had Damen not used slave passageways. Can we say conflicted?

Augh, I just love how beautifully everything weaves together in general. And how the fatal underestimation made by the Regent and Kastor was the lengths that others will go to for their loved ones. Very fitting.

I can't wait for the short stories!

In a kinder world, I could imagine Jokaste and Laurent teaming up to be the ultimate scheme-team and causing everybody else headaches lol.

He would probably be endlessly frustrated with Damen about Kastor, since apparently Damen never, ever learns. And conflicted about Laurent, because he actually did turn out to be trustworthy. I also think something interesting to explore between them would be the line between friendship and king/subject. Damen laments often about the fact that he can't just hang out around the campfire and shoot the shit with his men, anymore, and that definitely extends to the way that he and Nikandros interact now.

Yesss, I love all of the political intrigue. ASOIAF got me hooked on that kind of plot. I am also super excited for the short stories. I need them like air.

Have you looked into a PB yet? That's one of the hardest part about RPing a book character, ugh.

Oh, for sure. There's also the matter of how Damen has changed due to his experiences in Vere, which naturally Nik was not privy to, and that new dissonance after having known him intimately. It was touched upon often enough, but I imagine extends further than just the parts we were shown. Restoring equilibrium to an old friendship imbalanced by such huge changes in Damen's circumstances... so much for us to play with! :)

Not yet! And with the classic Akielon looks being olive skin, straight noses and dark hair/eyes the selection will be much smaller even before considering the period nature of the setting...

You'd think that with all the movies out there that take place in Greek/Roman times, there would be ample choices. But they're all about white dudes in togas. Thank you Hollywood. I wish I could be more help with finding somebody for you, but I'm not even happy with the one I have for Damen haha.

I've been itching to play Laurent so I'd be interested in threading with you! I'd need to find icons and such, and I have a little bit of reading left fyi. Also my tagging speed is usually every other day give or take depending on life, so lmk if you are interested in connecting :D
