Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

"Both Dark-Hunters and Shadowhunters have enchanted swords that are divinely forged, imbued with otherworldly spirits, have unique names, and glow like heavenly fire."

at least make it a gun or something jfc

and both ripped the divinely forged, flaming swords from the Bible

let's not even go into the longass tradition of people naming swords, or is this clown going to dig up lord tennyson and sue his corpse for excalibur

or fucking soul eater, jfc the enchanted sword is a longstanding staple of fantasy writing

+1

considering they're both working from pre-existing time periods with the divine and from time periods where swords were the big bad weapons of the time... lord of the rings has named, glowing swords. so does king arthur, chronicles of shannara, lady death, heralds of valdemar (sword with a soul in it), like... come on. when you write content that has a basis in well-known lore, you're going to get crossover. or should every movie out there that's had gabriel the angel in it be sued by the writers of the prophecy.

...defensiveness aside, that is exactly why she should have changed it. "longstanding staple" aka tired old cliche, i know she's writing for 14-year-olds but it doesn't have to be regurgitated urban fantasy trash

except the shadowhunters have existed for centuries. why would guns have been a thing back then? blame the timeline, not the fact that she's using something that adheres to it.

you realize that is all fictional ideas she allegedly came up with right

her hands were not tied in any way, if she wanted to change anything she could have

i'm having a blast imagining a bunch of serious lawyers writing this up and discussing it at length in meetings and courtrooms

something about a prosecuting attorney saying things like "shadowhunter" and "the enchanted sword glows like heavenly fire"

now i'm imagining it too

this is the trial of the year
