Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

you have no idea what depression is, do you?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-20 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
spare me the monologue, depressed daisy

words mean things.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-20 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, and not what you think they mean toots

from merrian-webster

DEPRESSION (n) [That means it's a noun, just so you know)

an act of depressing or a state of being depressed: as
a : a pressing down : lowering
b (1) : a state of feeling sad : dejection (2) : a psychoneurotic or psychotic disorder marked especially by sadness, inactivity, difficulty in thinking and concentration, a significant increase or decrease in appetite and time spent sleeping, feelings of dejection and hopelessness, and sometimes suicidal tendencies
c (1) : a reduction in activity, amount, quality, or force (2) : a lowering of vitality or functional activity

i thought about bolding the relevant portion for you but letting you mill it over probably means less shitposts for the rest of us and that can only ever be a good thing

op posts about most of b2. you somehow think you have to reach every point on the card to be depressed. depression comes in varying degrees. which you'd know if you had any actual familiarity with depression in any form. people with depression don't sit around crying all day and hating their lives. a lot of times, they just lose interest, suffer from sleep disorders, and have no desire to actually partake in life anymore. if someone is spending all day sleeping, that's a pretty blatant sign of depression. that you can't see that is a sign you're an idiot and probably think everyone's making up problems.

stop arguing with the shitposter, please.

well that... sucks

i struggled really hard with depression throughout my teen years and a good chunk of my young adult life, and i'd thought i'd finally gotten rid of it. i know it comes back pretty often for sufferers but. blah. i'd felt strong and like i'd overcome something

i guess it really is and my op post was just me trying to convince myself it was something else

you did overcome something! which means you can overcome it again.

at least that's what I'm trying to think for myself because I've been going through a nasty relapse too. :(

i'm sorry to hear that. i guess the bright side here to look at is that if you beat it once, you can beat it again. look at talking to someone or starting whatever it was you did the last time. step by step, anon.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-20 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
you're the one who told op depression was " more than feeling sad". now you're backtracking

if you're going to shitpost, at least get your shitposting straight

(Anonymous) 2016-01-20 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
except that's not what i said at all. i said it wasn't just 'feeling sad', and it's not. there's so much more to depression than crying and feeling blue. which i listed above. that you're arguing it makes me want to call you a troll. so, you know, go suck a dick.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-20 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
> depression isn't about bawling your eyes out every day. depression =/= sad. you're just deflated. it can mean you don't want to eat/shower/talk/do things. it's like... extreme apathy.

literally quoted from your own post toots (bold helpfully added this time, just for you)

(Anonymous) 2016-01-20 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
exactly. depression does not equal sad. they are not interchangeable. depression isn't only about being sad, which is what they were questioning. "I'm not sad. Does that mean I don't have depression?" the answer is no, not being sad doesn't mean you don't have depression. it just means you don't have that symptom. jfc. go read a goddamn book.
