The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. yo so

I approached them off-anon re: all this, told them my honest feelings and they are in fact, taking action. But they don't want to foster a habit of people relying on circling around each other in anonymous communities instead of approaching them directly, and I think that's fair. They were very pleasant talking with me about it, and prompt in replying.

Anyone else uncomfortable with the aforementioned players or anyone else, both people presently in-game and those who have been considering joining, please send them a message. Things are likely going to happen regardless, but fostering a healthier playerbase-and-mods communication sounds like a good goal to aim for.

'Foster a habit'

What do they think we are, five? Of course them letting a gay bashing racist remain in the game for months and months is going to put people off of approaching them. Not just about Phase, but any other problems that crop up. They damaged the trust of players in the game by not acting to remove a toxic element from the game when first notified.

Expecting players to approach them with their names attached is fine, but they've got to be more pro-active if they want to win our trust and comfort back. Hopefully if they boot Phase it could go a long way towards starting that.

no, i definitely support a mod's decision not to act on anything anonymous, even with pastebins. the one exception is maybe letting people use a sock if they have a problem with a mod.

i'm not gonna say FREE SPEECH!!! as a reason because we've established that that would be retarded, but it does set a precedent i wouldn't be happy with.

For the record that wasn't the exact wording (I just woke up then, sorry about that), but yeah the general idea is "don't rely on anon comms".

Allegedly no one approached them about it before recently, only within the last month. So back when it actually happened players might've been dodging bringing it up.

It doesn't sit so well with me though. If it's current players going to the mods with something that is bothering them that's one thing, but the idea that people not even in the game can go in and get someone kicked out just because they might app at some point in the future maybe if one player is not there is not a great one. Kicking out players in favor of people who aren't even in the game yet is not a good precedent to set.

Neither of them are at the level of people like Ken, Second, or Tora, so it's not at a point where mods should auto-kick them out. Which means it should take complaints from current players to get them removed, not complaints from anons.

It sounds like you at least are a current player though, so it's a non-issue in this case.

I'm a little more saddened that if they made a post it isn't public. I've been watching this because I want to app but wouldn't if both of them were in the game (I've been harassed by Jex and I find Phase's attitude really damaging and nasty) and I'd like to see how the mod's handle telling their players. It reflects a lot on them if it's public and they're frank and honest.

Sorry but one of us is gonna have to compromise, and given that there have been mods who have defended shitheels and people who have outright defended Phase here (who could be anyone, including a mod because they were anon) I really don't feel comfortable outing myself. Same with others.

Fucking deal with it. It's not like this is "X is playing so-and-so and I'm uncomfortable." This is, "Hey, mods, here's undeniable proof that this person is a highly toxic asshole who is bad for the game and shouldn't be given a free pass." It shouldn't matter the source so long as it's got actual deets.

By this argument, people outside the game shouldn't out someone for plagiarizing, either. Because they're an anon outside the game. No matter the proof.

And if players currently in the game are bothered by it, and have gone to the mods, and are the ones who complained to the mods about the behavior, then sure. Yes, they absolutely deserve to be kicked out.

I'm not arguing that Phase isn't a shitty person. I'm arguing that people who aren't in the game at all have no place going to the mods with shit like "Oh I MIGHT app but not with this player there." The moment mods start kicking out players they have already accepted because an anon out there might join if they are gone is the moment that we stop believing mods have the players' best interest at heart. Even though Phase is a shitty person and absolutely does deserve to be kicked out, this is not a precedent that we want to have set.
