rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

people like to ship. people like to crosscanon ship. ships are entirely subjective and tbh, unless they're incredibly gross or problematic (like a minor and someone 2x+ their age) and both parties involved are into the ship, it's not really anyone else's business. it makes the complaining parties look like they're not able to ship with one half or they just like to piss on people's fun. 'but it's not ic' is the fallback excuse and that too is subjective. a lot of stuff about being in a panfandom jamjar aren't ic, but we jut rp and have fun with it.

otherwise, you look like people giving interracial/gay couples the evil eye. "THEY'RE RUINING MARRIAGE." are they? are they really? is someone else's relationship any of your business? kind of applies here (obviously without actual real world comparisons to shit like that because wow, i'm not trying to compare shitty ships in rp to racism or homophobia)

just shrug and do your own thing.

really, if people go off and do their own thing idk what they ship. my only concern (other than he seems more an OC than an AU of the character at this point) is that norrington has become one of loudest templars in the game. now he wants to marry a mage from outside the circle within a month of meeting her. considering how many people are tied up in the templar/mage ic conflict, this ship might become a big dramatic center stage thing that i am not interested in dealing with.

so don't deal with it. no one's going to make you. if anyone asks why you're not involved, just say that ship drama isn't your thing and that's that.

Pel and Norrington are both awful and so are their players. The fact that they paired off with each other is probably a blessing in disguise.

The Katniss and Cullen ship is just weird and flat and a little creepy but at least it also keeps others from having to deal with them.

Some of this mess did influence my choice of who to app, but in the end I just trashed my idea for a Templar and went in another direction. That way I don't have to deal with Norrington and if this thing with Katniss is a sign of things to come from Cullen I get to avoid that too.

'everything is subjective' is right when you're talking about us liking it, but asking for a character to be IC in their behavior regarding anything, least of all ships, is absolutely a legitimate expectation in RP. if you don't want your character to at least marginally resemble themselves, why the hell are you playing them?

this. it's okay when people want to crit on something wrt a personality quirk/trait but the second it comes to shipping it's WELL IT'S SUBJECTIVE/JUST IGNORE IT/THEY JUST WANT THE D. just because you ship a/b doesn't mean you should go ooc to get it.

if you're not trying to compare rp ships being ooc to real world homophobia and racism, then don't bring it up at all, what the fuck dude

dude, no one said they're ruining anything.

though honestly, if the points are made up and nothing matters, why not do the weirdly ooc cross-canon shipping in a game meant for that. and not a game specifically for dragon age. where one assumes people are going to try to keep some semblance of canon going.
