Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

Re: invite-only games

Here, I'll explain my reasoning since that'll help you in figuring things out. Also, keep in mind that I'm only one person, and if you have 30-40 other people who're interested then you might as well go for it.

I'm a little wary of anon mods in general, because while I understand the reasoning there's been a few fantastic failures which kind of shit in the well recently, and I also like the ability of being able to make educated choices as to who I deal with. Like the other anon said, what if I'm wrong in assuming you're my friend and you're actually a notorious piece of shit? But I get why you wouldn't want to have a name attached to it.

Personally, I differ from the other people in that I think premises only go so far and it's more the execution which matters, because if we made a drinking game for every single unique premise which dissolved into slice of life we'd all die horribly. So if the game's been running for a while and seems interesting, sure, I don't give a fuck who you are.

But it's like what the other anon said, actually: just because I get an invitation doesn't mean I'd join, and if I don't know who you are for a fact I won't give it a try out of friendship, and if the game's just starting up I probably wouldn't be interested enough because just because you claim you're going to deliver on customized content and strong player involvement doesn't mean you're going to deliver. Also, if the game's small from the start then I'd also probably pass because, unlike the games which bloat up, the chances of me being able to just grab a bunch of other people and find my own fun if you don't deliver on it is less likely because there's less people.

Oh, and the difference with anon + app cap game (even one that becomes invite only in two rounds) is that the starting pool isn't 100% dependent on who you invite, so if a couple of people I know are interested then I'd have a better chance of being able to make my own fun if you drop the ball on plot or player involvement. I enjoy strangers but a party's always more fun when you kind of know the crowd there.

I totally understand, and that's absolutely fair. The game is still very much in development as i tweak my ideas, but I really hope I can make something decent out of it. I haven't made a final decision, though I'm thinking 1-2 open rounds with a cap and (if the game is successful, and like you said, that's a pretty big if these days) making it invitation-only later on might work.

In any case, thanks a lot for your input!

but a shitlord can just change their identity and you would never know. so why are anon mods really that different?
