Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

this is becoming a troublingly common reaction for dwrp mods

players don't like the game is going, crit mods. mods sit on their hands for months on end, then shut the game down.

*the WAY the game is going

i'm more irritated that real life issues got trotted out as an excuse yet again for why shit wasn't getting done

if you're that consistently swamped, maybe you shouldn't be modding in the first place and maybe you should ask for assistance instead of just throwing the kill switch on the whole thing after months of stagnation

because this didn't happen overnight, that's for sure

but closing a game is a recognition that they shouldn't be modding in the first place, and a handover isn't exactly an effortless and immediate thing to take care of, either

anon, they had months to hand off this game to someone else. months to open mod apps and pick someone and hand the game off. please stop defending their shitty actions.

some of us have been offering help to them in between and after the timeskip. players left feedback regarding their inconsistencies around spring/early summer.

you're forgetting the part where they apparently weren't even aware of how despondent the playerbase has gotten until a few weeks ago

which in itself is not a good sign for their capabilities as mods, but you can't work to fix a problem you don't even realize is there

you'd have to actually be participating in or paying attention to the game to notice it. literally all any of them had to do was look at any each plurk the last couple months. any one. that was the tone of the game.

it's especially irritating when there are players who have said they'd be willing to step up and mod. if the mods are getting tired of the game or don't have time for it, why not hand it off to people who do?

i'm more annoyed at the 'we're down to a few mods' when the game started with two. a few should be enough for a game they intended to turn into a sandbox. if those few had too many rl obligations (or let's face it, were too busy in other games to mod one), they should have thought about passing it off instead of taking away one of the few settings that differ from most other games. i'm not impressed.

lbr if each continued to have only two mods beyond the first month, it probably would have died before six

that would only have been true if they'd tried to change it into what happened when snow joined the team on their own. the sandboxy feel of it was removed when snow joined and started to implement quests and plot and yes, the tabletop mechanics. if the game had never gotten to those heights in terms of mod involvement, no one would be bitching so much about them being taken away. snow started out a player, was active in trying to organize plots/one side of the game, was brought onto the mod team and basically was the game until she stepped down. and guess what, the mod involvement everyone was used to crashed with her and that was the start of the downfall of the game.

if snow hadn't joined, if the plot hadn't escalated, it likely would have continued to putter along as the fantasy sandbox it had started as.

I think the worst/funniest/worst thing is how half-assed the closing message is

"Game's over, I guess you got home through a plot hole, bye"

had to sad laugh at someone who plurked about being excited for the upcoming event log and that the people who were being negative about everything should just shut up or drop because they were ruining it for everyone else

and then this happened like right after
