Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

I don't understand this.

The player had been in the game for several months already so they have no excuse to not understand how ac works or how to get in touch with the mods.

They failed to contact them appropriately.

They realized they wouldn't be able to post to ac so they failed to contact the mods appropriately again. Looking at the danger list, they could have checked in with a strike at any time ac was up. If they weren't able to and couldn't contact the mods, they have fourteen cast mates who could have checked in for them since they're obviously in this thread ready to fight for them.

This didn't happen suddenly. The player didn't suddenly trip and land in Narnia so there was no reason to not get their act together before this happened.

Why should the mods work with this player after they made no effort to work with them?

And after all of this why would the mods want to work with them? They were lazy, inactive, and salty as fuck.

Re: da

my apologies to all the people yelling about how this person deserving their boot but i haven't followed this too closely

my understanding is that they gave the mods a first check-in and then a second that was lost? idk, if they were in someplace without internet (doesn't even have to be a third-world country, i have distant family in the sticks and the one time i went to see them they had no internet and i had no reception the whole time. it was a long 3 days) idk what else people were expecting from them

really though it's just the vehemence that gets me. if this isn't a bumrush, why are so many people so loud about how this player deserved their boot and good riddance and etc etc. most of the games i've been in, if you miss ac and it earns a booting (which is usually on some kind of strike system) you can reapp. i haven't followed this too closely but from what i have it's just been nonstop GOOD RIDDANCE DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU WHERE GOD SPLIT YOU vitriol

idk what this game is but if i was in the market for games i'd probably skip it. unless this player was some phase-level creep that's an unecessary degree of vitriol for someone who's only crime was missing 1-2 checkins

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
You can't reapp in Cereal because those are the rules. If you idle out, you can't reclaim the same character in the upcoming round. Those are the rules. Period.

People are saying they deserved the boot because they failed ac.

People are saying good riddance because they threw a tittybaby tantrum.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
you're right

you haven't followed this closely at all and don't know anything about how the player screwed themselves over and didn't take it in good grace like so many others who have accidentally fucked up ac. it happens, but do not blame or accuse the mods for that. THAT'S what everyone here is reacting over.

but more likely? you are that mun and now you're blaming all the anons here while taking zero responsibility for anything once again. i don't see how anyone other than them can fail to grasp the reality of this

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
The problem isn't that the player messed up ac but because they handled it poorly.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
wasn't their "mess up" exactly one snide comment on plurk? not saying it was in good taste or anything like that, but if people saying stupid things on plurk is grounds for this kind of venom, i think you cerealia people better get the coffeemaker going and order out for pizza because you might be there awhile

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Naw dawg.
They showed their ass, got called out on it, and made a snide comment back in this plurk but they were doing it in other plurks too to try and get their friends on their side.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
It was a whole 100+ comment plurk full of snide comments (which they've now deleted lol) and snide comments in others' plurks as well. It was not "exactly one snide comment". It was a whole tantrum.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
okay. NOW we're getting somewhere

still doesn't quite justify the vesuvian assfury here, but at least it's something more substantial than "made a tacky comment"

if you've got more deets or specifics on these deets, that'd be great. i'm kinda trapped in the cave of wonders rn, as in "wonders what all the fucking fuss is about"

also who the fuck is merry

da

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Merry's the player.

This is the first I've heard of another plurk, though? I'm curious too.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
the player who got the boot, or one of her whiteknights?

anon buried me in the cave of grudge made them sound like a separate person, so sorry if the request of clarification sounds a little dense. just want to make sure we're on the same page

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Aside from the quotes from a plurk that have already been pasted here (those quotes were them talking in another person's plurk, not their own), there's that huge plurk they made that they deleted, so I unfortunately don't have quotes from that.

But the plurk merry made started out with them putting words in the mod's mouths and acting like they're "quoting" the mod's message to them (and making it very asshole-ish sounding). A few people read it and thought the mods said that because early on in the plurk someone asked if they did and merry responded "yep pretty much lol". When what they said was nowhere near what merry claimed. They were very neutral in their response with a "we sympathize but we're sorry, we can't go back on our rules." But she claimed it was something like "Sorry you think you're special! You can try to beat your cast cap next round even though you didn't do anything to get booted!" (Why people believed that, I'm not sure)

And then the plurk proceeded for over 100 comments of buttpats from friends and merry throwing a long fit about how she thinks she deserves special treatment and "The mods think RP is more important than a friend's wedding!!!! Lol!!!! They need a life!!!! I guess they don't do anything but RP!!!!" When merry is the one sitting here whining so loudly about it herself.

There was at least one person trying to calmly suggest things to her and talk sense, but she blew that person away with "Lol I know you love the game but it's dumb" and then she continued to throw an extended fit.

The whole plurk boiled down to her thinking she deserves special treatment and throwing the mods under the bus for her own mistake.

Thank you. THANK YOU.

Finally something substantial. "Lying and putting words in the mod's mouths" is anger-worthy. it's a step past simple dumbass foot-in-mouth textbites. it's still not quite "you're a mod so you should just tell everyone to play with me!" but it has a taste and a bite. this i can chew and swallow

when i pay my rpa bill for this evening, you're the one who gets the tip

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure most of this constitutes as "assfury." Bafflement over how there's even still a discussion over this when the mods are only following the rules they follow with everyone else in game, maybe. But "assfury"? That's as reaching as you're accusing everyone else here of.

from the way they're wording some of their replies, they seem like an asshole, themselves (the sort that thinks they're cute or funny when it's really just kind of annoying), so it's no wonder.

I think I explained pretty clearly.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
people are loud about it because they acted like a brat instead of handling this maturely.

and because people like you keep defending them while in the same breath admitting you don't have all the info. so if you're not the mun/their friends, you're admitting to being an ignorant passerby with no perspective. you're not in a good position for commentary in either of those

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
breathe for a second and just read the replies here. i don't know if they're from you and your friends, or trolls, or what, but just read

unclench you guys. this isn't someone threatening suicide because they didn't get their way or someone forcing unwanted CR on their not-castmates or someone bullying other players through PMS to get their way. this is such a sad little sin i can't believe wankgate's even allowing it to be discussed

the way you folks talk about this player you'd think he/she ran over someone's dog. there's a thing i like to call perspective, it's awfully helpful in situations like this

dda

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
literally nobody is comparing this to any of that except you because this clearly means so much to you, merry or whatever name you go by

these are snide remarks in response to the snide remarks made on plurk, it's all it is so please unclench ty

yeah okay you're either a troll or so overinvested you're seeing your hated enemy in randos on rpa

either way i can see trying to hold a rational conversation with you is a lost cause, so i'm out

I don't play in the game, actually, and don't know, or care, who the player is.

I can just read, and understand, what happened.

Re: ayrt

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
well then why don't you explain to me what this player did that is so deserving of this level of rage

seriously. cripple it and walk it by me slow if you think there's something i've missed

da

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Alright.

If you're (general you here, before we start throwing around more accusations) a dick to mods, you're not going to be very popular.

This isn't rage. This is "how come you don't understand that rudeness is a shitty character trait?" and people trying to explain the situation.

People get swept from AC -- especially during the holidays! It happens. Life happens. No one's going to be going "DON'T COME BACK, ASSHAT" just because you idle out because you have a life. That's obviously fine.

People getting swept from AC and throwing a fit over it -- snide remarks towards the mods who are legitimately doing unpaid volunteer work over their holidays, griping about it forever when they're legitimately the one who didn't understand the hiatus rules, and otherwise being rude over rules that have been in place for months -- all of these things are obviously less fine.

That's it. That's what this boils down to.
