rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

May I as why?

I'm sick of the typical interactions panfandoms tend to result in (explaining world differences, adjusting to new technology, explaining different species and time periods, etc) and I'm sick of the "everyone thrown into a new world and they have to get used to it" style of play. Throwing a giant mish-mash of characters together is just w style of game I'm not really into anymore; I like starting off with established relations and not having to have the time period/world differences talk with every new character mine meets if they happen to be an alien or from the 1500s or something.

I guess that means I'm mostly sick of panfandom JAMJARS and I would love more AU games. However even then I'm a little sick of castmates and enabling and all that stuff, and trying to incorporate a huge range of characters into a single cohesive world. For example, I played in a panfandom AU and would have loved having siblings for my character to play off of. However, he has canon siblings and even in AU games it's generally expected that canon families will remain the same in case a castmate apps. So being a lone canon warrior in an AU game generally results in a ton of handwaved behind the scenes relations because no one is playing those characters.

Single fandom games can have that problem too but there is only one cast to app into so it isn't that exaggerated. With OC games anyone can app a relation at any time and you don't have to wait for someone to come along and play from your canon.

I like the way you think.

You might have better luck at some IJ games unless they've changed drastically to only include celebrity RP these days.

Smaller OC games and PSL's are a little easier than games, but I'd be all for OC or AU-specific games where the world's more or less set up. Even more fun if you get to help do the world building.

To be fair, enabling happens at all games. At least being enabled into another character with their own arcs and development is better than being enabled into someone whose entire development is "OC's sister/father/best friend/etc"

Not that I'm saying panfans are superior, but that's a problem I've found with OC games.

It's so much more fun to be enabled when you have a bit of an idea to run with. Give those siblings/parents/friends some adjectives and let me run with that!
