rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

I hate recommending this because I always feel the need to add 'no, seriously, trust me,' which is awkward enough. But then when they don't trust me, I can't even blame them.

But.

Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye comic from IDW Publishing is some of the best sci-fi I've read in years, and I say this as someone who could only name about three giant car robots before reading it. The premise is that there's been a civil war going for millions of years between factions of this pretty nearly immortal race, and suddenly it ended. Now everyone has to deal with the fallout. Our hero, Rodimus, rather than try to help rebuild, fucks off with a cast of lovable and variously dysfunctional D-list characters on a quest to find an ancient pseudo-mythological group who hopefully know how to fix everything. They get sidetracked constantly.

Genre is something like sci-fi adventure-comedy-drama, changing from story to story. It's thankfully mostly self-contained, crossing over one time a few volumes in with its sister story, which is about the people who stuck around and tried to help rebuild in the aftermath of the war. That one's okay, worth reading up until the crossover, at least.

okay, i hadn't put this together. 'Madeline' apped in in November, I hadn't seen them around, I didn't realize that was Jex. which I guess was dumb of me, because they're playing a game transplant.

Oh, I don't need two events per month, the pace lately has just been way too slow (and yeah I know it's the holidays and if it was just December I would have let it slide, but both November and December was a little much). One event a month with one event every few months being actively plot advancing would be fine with me. We've mostly had events that were nothing but temporary effects that were never mentioned again and those are fun to play too but a bit more plot would be nice.

I actually don't care for angst (small doses is fine but I really don't like playing 'lost control and attacked a friend' type of hurt/comfort plots) so that might be part of the problem, but I feel like just CR isn't always enough to go on either and that doesn't necessarily mean you're burnt out on the game. You can get awesome CR in SoL games, but I'd never app to them because SoL just plain doesn't interest me. I love my CR, but I also strongly prefer certain types of threads and scenarios over others. No matter how awesome my CR is I'm not going to be terribly interested in threading them dancing at a party or doing hurt/comfort things.

I think this is where playing up the PvP aspects could be really great, because I'd love to get involved in some real conflict and camaraderie that didn't require and event and wasn't angst-ridden (and get the resulting CR), so I hope the mods do something with the PvP elements. I'll definitely bring it up to the mods as a suggestion.

How do table codes on DW work differently from Insanejournal or LJ? I've been wanting to use some on here, but I don't know where to start.
