rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

is it depression if you're not really sad or anything, but you have zero motivation to do... anything

i haven't wanted to talk to friends or play games or go outside for awhile, i seem to just keep going in circles on the internet until i go to sleep, then i wake up and do that some more, go to work, come home, do it again, etc etc

it's extremely boring and yet even trying to force myself to do other things is a chore/isn't fun

what do

depression isn't about bawling your eyes out every day. depression =/= sad. you're just deflated. it can mean you don't want to eat/shower/talk/do things. it's like... extreme apathy.

This is late, but I came over here from Tumblr originally. I will say that the experience can be very different depending on the group of people that you interact with, but I'll try to give a general overview.

One thing that I really hated about Tumblr RP was how time-consuming it was. It was really hard for me to maintain multiple accounts, especially with having to have separate emails. And without an inbox, it's not nearly as easy to keep track of who owes what when it comes to replies. A lot of people put what they owe into their drafts, but sometimes it gets lost, or if you want to look back, you have to slog through your archives. Tagging your posts helps with this, but once again, things happen. It's not nearly as easy to go back and read old logs.

Basically, Tumblr RP comes much less organized, but if you put in the extra effort, you can organize it yourself, more or less.

It's the same thing when it comes to actually roleplaying with people. You have to find the people, follow them, hope they follow back. I didn't see a lot of people making open posts, so you'll usually have to personally go to the muns to make plans. Your best bet is to build CR with informal tumblr posts (aka basically network-esque stuff) and then go for a real thread. Once again, a little more difficult than dwrp, but if you're willing to expend the extra effort, you can make up for it.

There are some very definite pros to tumblr rp, though.

For one, it's absurdly easy to do quality checks, unless the blog is brand new. Even then, any blog worth their salt will have enough info on it to give you an idea of the quality even when new. Otherwise, just click their blog and scroll around. The icons situation is a lot better. Without having to pay any extra, you can use literally hundreds of icons. I had about 300 saved of my last character I roleplayed on there. Of course, I've probably never used more than half of that, but it's nice to have the option.

Once again, though, I'll say it definitely depends on the crowd you get a hold of. Some of them have gotten really...weird? Very into formating text with italics and bolds and strike throughs in normal speaking, for no other reason than aesthetic. But there are also pretty normal people.

The easiest way to start is honestly just go into the tag for '(fandom here) roleplay' and see what you find. Click around, look at blogs, look at who they're talking to. But like I said before, you should make sure you can have at least a pretty good-looking blog with a lot of coherent information on it, maybe post an IC introduction or something, because when you're new, that's what people look for.

op posts about most of b2. you somehow think you have to reach every point on the card to be depressed. depression comes in varying degrees. which you'd know if you had any actual familiarity with depression in any form. people with depression don't sit around crying all day and hating their lives. a lot of times, they just lose interest, suffer from sleep disorders, and have no desire to actually partake in life anymore. if someone is spending all day sleeping, that's a pretty blatant sign of depression. that you can't see that is a sign you're an idiot and probably think everyone's making up problems.
