rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Where tho? Tumblr and F-list and even fucking YouTube is saturated with people pretending to be canon characters. Are you talking about old forums no one RPs on anymore or something? Because you are reaching, hard.

i only recently joined melodies within the last few months so i wasn't in the game when that wank went down. as a newish player i don't want to stir up the pot for something i wasn't even around for, even though the player does make me uncomfortable and i want nothing to do with them as i am gay myself.

i've rped on forums as canon characters, too? mostly on specific fandom boards but forum rp for canon characters exists too. and on twitter. and... i can't even think of another site that has actual rp on it right now. where the fuck are you guys talking about that is overflowing with ocs and shuns canon characters, because i'm actually curious to see. hope you don't mean neopets.

and while anti-oc people don't tend to legitimately want to gas oc players, they are judgmental against them and plenty of people don't even want them to be here

No, but saying that 'this sort of advice is why comms die' is wrong since the comm has been slowly dying for the last year. It's effectively dead already, so it's not really a proper venue to use for advertising, which is what a new game wants/needs. Go ahead and post to it, but it's not going to do you much good, which makes it not viable advice in terms of where to go to get new blood for a new game.

i don't believe they don't fit either, but like you said, ocs have more of an opening for someone to play a self-insert or something based on projection. say someone is obsessed with sebastian stan and they make an oc who is gay, snarky, and pb'ed by sebastian stan. i am going to roll my eyes out of my head and not tag them.

i get side-eye-y at super minor characters too, but it really depends on the character. i mean, honestly? i rp most of my canon characters because i find them attractive or because i love their attitude and want to bounce that off other characters. we all want to have fun. but with canon characters you can at least put an hmd up and open yourself up for crit and scrutiny.

ocs have absolutely no venue for that. you can "crit" them but it's... the player's creation and they can just say "oh but they're like that and this is why". at the very least, even with a minor canon character, there's some sort of rules to follow.

i think that's a lot of why people don't like ocs mingling with their canon characters that they are, for the most part, trying to play ic.

Sure, in terms of RP as a whole, we're the strange ones, but playing OCs here still makes you the odd one out. I guess I can understand wanting to play an OC in your usual RP environment if you've played fandom characters for a while, but OC-only players in DWRP baffle me.

tell the mods anyway. we have a right to a safe space in our games, and phase makes it unsafe. the potential for hurt her presence offers is nothing good for the game.

the mods have a job to promote a safe environment for the majority, and they haven't done it. just because she hasn't started ranting off on an individual yet doesn't mean she isn't a risk, and she needs to go.

There are enough of OC players here. No reason to look elsewhere if one likes how DW works.
