rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. That doesn't matter. It's about preventing someone taking them and distributing them or using them without permission. Most people credit if they have used free-to-use icons, either in the sidebar or on a page. The point is that it means that you're less likely to see them stolen because you can't get away with it, and anyone using them either has balls the size of boulders or they're using them with permission.

If it went the volunteer route then characters would probably have some idea they were being brought to help and how difficult it might be for them. Otherwise I think the format of the game and how it would translate allows room for characters to learn to be decent Guardians. We all start out at level 1 and work our way up to 40, after all, and I imagine from the popularity of similar elements in CDC and Eachdraidh that that progression would be a core interest for players in the game.

I would personally put in an age limit for characters though. Probably 16 rather than 18 just to remove the chance of smaller children trying to get around, but still allow for teen drama/shounen types who probably would adapt just fine.

Racists and homophobes should not get a pass in an environment where we are not legally required to deal with their toxic asses. I get enough of that shit at work. I don't need it in a hobby, and MoL isn't getting my app for it.

I love games like this, but I'm not comfortable with mods who won't do shit to protect their playerbase, current and incoming.

I don't even go here, just passing through, but speaking as both a tabletop GM and a former mod of a large game, you have some really skewed expectations.

It's not laziness that keeps a lot of DWRP mods from running very tight player-focused plots, it's that there are usually just too many players with too many wants and needs to juggle, let alone juggle while handling all the massive work with apps and lists. Honestly, the only chance you really have of providing heavy structure in a game anymore is instating a player or character cap from the getgo and a lot of players balk at that because they're afraid of not being able to get into games or afraid their buddies won't get in.

If people want games run like tabletops it seems like there are more coming out now that are meant to be smaller and plot-focused like that space superhero game or Interstellar (although who wants to be at a quix game) but a game as big as Ryslig would be very hard to run that way.

That isn't to say that your mods are doing enough for you. Like I said, I don't even go here, maybe there's more they should be doing. But what you posted was a little ridiculous. One thing I'd suggest is rather than tolerating all SOL or expecting tabletop style GMing you should maybe consider asking your mods for something that strikes a better middle ground in between. Maybe plots where significant things can happen but they're set up in a way where players are informed of multiple options and the players themselves can npc or shift the events in them so the mods don't have to npc it for everyone.

I admit this whole situation bothers me in part because, in high school, I actually knew a kid (14 at the time) who could pass for 18, had a fake ID and made a habit out of picking up older guys for one-night stands and lying to them about his age.

He was a fucked-up kid, and I think, looking back, that what he really needed was years of therapy, but I would be very, very hesitant to call the guys he picked up (mostly college kids who thought he was a high school graduate) rapists or predators. One of them was in a GSA group I attended a few meetings of, and that dude nearly threw up when he found out his hookup's real age.

Add a major drug problem into that kind of "grossly underage person lies about their age to pursue sex with adults" situation and whether there's legal culpability or not I just can't bring myself to assign Bowie moral culpability.

A small number of players means plots can be really inclusive and tailored to the players since there are less people to make happy. Having them have multiple characters means they have at least 3 options for chemistry with other characters.
