Statutory rape is not the same as what most people consider rape as it's based around the technicality of "X was too young to consent even if they've done it wholeheartedly." An 18-year-old fucking a 17-year-old is also statutory rape, no matter if the 17-year-old was consenting.

that chicken just wants attention and money even tho she didn't paint her fucker in a bad light or anything and we should definitely focus on how much of a liar the chicken is as opposed to scrutinizing her fucker

like above anon said, there's a very big difference between statutory rape and rape. lots of consenting couples get slapped with stat rape because one ages out of the 'acceptable age range' and the parents can use it as an excuse. not to mention there's a huge difference between having sex with someone without their consent and having sex with a minor. tbh, i think the term should be changed to something else because no one can see past the word 'rape', which brings to mind forceful and unwanted sex.

sixteen would have been of the age to consent, which could very well be how old he thought she was. there are loads of stories of 20+ guys (and girls) having sex with minors and not knowing because they either didn't think to ask or they were lied to. if a girl tells you she's eighteen and she looks eighteen, you're not going to ask her for her id. finding out she's twelve or thirteen can come as a legitimate surprise to the other party. it happens a lot and has happened a lot in the past, particularly with famous people. (not to say there aren't some roman polanskys here and there, but there's a difference)

the point is that there really isn't a huge difference. thirteen years old is a child who should not be having sex with a thirty-year-old. don't bring up the 17/18 example like it's remotely comparable to what we're talking about.

It's also an extension of the "I'M MATURE FOR MY AGE" thing, basically. There's a fair number, in my experience, who lie about their age because they believe they should be treated like they're older than they are.

Even the woman's account in this case states she enjoyed it. She obviously doesn't even think of it as rape, and in this case, yes, she consented and probably at the time believed she was ready like most "I'm Mature For My Age" people can think. It's still fucked up, no one's saying that, but it's not like he forced her down and left her to rot in the gutter.

I also have plenty of players I've played with before/know are good, but don't necessarily currently have added that I could invite. Similarly, not all my rp-friends know each other, so I'd be sending out invites to 30-40 people, if I did go the 'private invite' route. I'm not too worried about getting figured out.

Serious question though: would you play in an invite-only game if you didn't know the mod? (Assuming you figure it's a friend.)

In the past I used to go in blind to the taken list because I would join based entirely on premise or on invites from friends.

Now I double-check the same standards as y'all; I swing to less anime characters, but also check for a healthy population of adult characters.

I also check to see if the OC population's doing fairly well. Usually games don't have more than a handful, but if the ones that are there are substandard in some way (my gauge often goes by urban-fantasy LA-PB's who are especially arrogant or 2 cool... and I'd be lying if very badly drawn icons weren't a sign, but more of what I'm looking at is how thought-out the character is and whether their history and world are rich and fun to read about!)

unless she walked up to him and said 'hi david, i'm thirteen and a virgin and i want you to fuck me', he had no way of actually knowing. i'm not saying that she should have done it or he should have had sex with her, but i'm saying that there is a small bit of leeway to grant him since it's very likely he wasn't aware of her age. if he thought she was sixteen, that was legal.

i don't know why you people think that it's always just that easy to tell how old people are just by looking at them. i know plenty of pre-teens that look like adults and plenty of adults that people still think are kids. we don't age universally. we're not psychic. we don't have our ages on our foreheads. it's not as simple as saying 'he shouldn't have'. if he didn't know, you can't claim the same thing as if he did.

I've been struggling to think of a good way of wording this, but not only would I not play in this game, I'd have a very strong, visceral, fuck no reaction to it.

literally no one thinks that, though. i absolutely can claim he still shouldn't have done it. not knowing you did a thing and not meaning to do a thing does not mean you didn't do the thing, and i don't know why you're so dead fucking set on defending him instead of going "yeah, that was gross, but i still appreciate him for his work/as a symbol"

Serious Answer: Yes.

But the thing here that I feel is missing out of all of this has nothing to do with modding and everything to do with 'If I like the game premise'. I don't give a shit who mods what (unless it's Kaeyvin or Stormy or Ken), but I'm not going to join a game just because I get an invite. I want to be interested in the game premise. Concentrate less on asking if people would want to join because of anon modding and more on if you actually have something they'd want to join. If you've got something interesting enough, I'd definitely join, anon modding or no.

i think it also happens because people do one a day, meaning that you tag them back (or out) and probably don't get anything back until you're unable to reply for whatever reason.

people have more shit to do now because we all grew up. we can't stay online until 4am boomeranging any more or sit at the computer tagging all day during school holidays.

i used to rp on tumblr before the formatting bullshit became too much for me to deal with, and now I just solicit my rp partners from there and periodically trawl rp w/me posts here for people who play from my fandoms

as for platforms, i do email and gdocs because i don't care about icons/gifs/etc. and only want to write prose these days

for that, for aai2, for everything capcom holds hostage because promoting their games is haaaard
