rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. I don't really think absurd screaming of chants and face paint, or slamming your bros through tables, really counts as "well-adusted" anon. Football fandom is still fandom. It's just a more socially acceptable form of weird.

people in our lines of fandom are generally much more stunted in terms of everyday functioning

Google and wikis tell me precious little about the player's interpretation of the character, which is kind of a dealbreaker in some cases. Especially for canons with a lot of ambiguity.

actually i agree with the last part. socially awkward people can often blame their parents for how they brought them up wrt acting in social situations, reacting to things, dealing with criticism, etc. if not parents, then teachers/other caregivers.

a lot of it is a self-fulfilling prophecy, too, i think. i used to be horribly awkward and socially anxious. now, i can put on a face like i'm not, even when i feel nervous or weird in any given social situation. i partly taught myself this and i'm honestly proud of it. it involved a lot of self-reflection and getting the fuck over myself, as well as building up self-esteem.

fuck if I know, I'm not one of the anons saying anything about him. he's said enough direct things that I disagree with strongly that I don't need to be making assumptions about his adjacency to nazism or incest to dislike him.

a lot of us are definitely social rejects, but a lot of us aren't. i feel glad to have a group of rp friends who are completely, boringly normal human beings, myself.

all the football bros i know are stoners who don't work because mom & dad don't make them or only work part-time, by choice, despite being in debt

i mean, i get it. i also have chronic pain and have to carefully manage my energy. but holy fucking shit, like you said, the tone was dumb and it was just. idk. i hate how it's praised as the best thing ever when it's just an unnecessarily complicated way of saying "i don't have the energy to do this/i am in too much physical pain", and to add insult to injury, i've never seen anyone use MUH SPOONS in a non-idiotic way

I still see a few RPers kicking around, there's small casts from several of the games in Ryslig, the game I'm in. XIII and VII still seem to be relatively popular. I used to play from VIII and IX myself and have been toying with the idea of picking them back up.
