i'm still conflicted over how i feel about ruby's character design.

i mean, i get it. in the interests of overseas profitability you can't make it too in-your-face about the gays, so you have to cut corners with safety scissors so the bigots don't get hurt (see: the UK edit of the rainbow quartz fusion-dance scene). i can argue til i'm blue in the face about how that's b.s. but i'd just be preaching to the choir.

you could, alternatively, argue that ruby is meant to be coded as non-binary, but tbh that reeks of a cop-out because gems across the board are blatantly coded as female--and one of them that is in a blatant relationship just happens to be maybe-not-entirely-female? i mean headcanon all you want but it'd be weak to suggest its canon imo.

i try to view this show in the eyes of modern children and as an animation critic and as such as i applaud the leaps and bounds this show takes to instill the empathetic values appropriate for a citizen living in tyool 2016...i look at my emulated version of bitty-me and realize that the young lesbian is still being taught that a proper gay relationship has a male-coded member and female-coded member; it's a concept that i still struggle to rid myself of to this day.

maybe this is an inconsequential thing to get bummed out about in the face of everything else but it doesn't stop me from being a little bit disappointed.

arachnes have an optional meticulous trait, and the artistic/detail/perfectionist/plans ahead all seemed to fit with webspinning. also: fat lazy spider potential

A world is prophesied to end in tragedy and the main character dies being shot by the man she loves. Clearly the solution here is to make them fall in love and thwart said girl's stalker from the time of her birth to convince her to the dark side.

Ugh Please. Path of Radiance is my favorite and it makes no sense to have radiant dawn available on the virtual console and not PoR since anyone jumping into RD first will have NO idea what the fuck is happening.

At least 7 and 8 are on virtual console. I should get back to replaying those, actually so thanks for reminding me!

yeah, Clannad is more well-known in the west and Key admittedly has a bigger budget than Regista when it comes to producing merch, there's still waaaay more incentive to burn 205 bucks on Clannad's KS than there is to throw away 200 bucks on Root Double's.

they're getting backers, but you don't see a lot of people pledging beyond 99 dollars tbh.

pearl and garnet's relationship was extremely romantically/sexually-tinted during week of sardonyx

peridot has been shown to have a crush on basically every single crystal gem

if ruby and sapphire were the only instance of same-sex romance in this show i'd get where you're coming from, but this show has so many of them, and they're all so varied, that i don't understand why ONE of them being a butch/femme couple is such an issue

they each have like a sentence and a half's worth of personality and no known history, how the hell would you even rp that

bad things happen and everything ever is a setup because god wants humanity to have an excuse to be miserable

the moral of the story is that bored students are a danger to themselves and everyone else if given the opportunity
