Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

i used to be a lot like that, and it's definitely satisfying, but i usually play on immortal and trying to spam wonders is futile with the AI's bonuses. at this level, you're bottom of the heap and trying to play the AI's against each other until you finally manage to pull ahead on research and spam a trillion bombers at them.

Ah, see, I generally hover around King difficulty.

I have mostly female characters unless I made an OC, and I do have a preference for the sub role if pushed, so that'd probably be my preference, but I can do either, seriously!

more general tips that apply to both domination games and not! assuming you're playing vanilla anyway. even if you are playing vanilla, get InfoAddict and Enhanced UI, they don't change the AI or add anything new, they just make it easier to see what the game already tells you. plus, they don't disable achievements or anything.

social policies: tradition (all of it), patronage until renaissance, rationalism. there are some very specific cases where it's okay to diverge from this, like for poland it's totally cool to dip into liberty to get the free settler early on, but no matter what victory you want, you'll pretty much always use tradition/patronage/rationalism.

ideology: generally speaking, freedom is mathematically superior to order or autocracy even for domination victories, but you won't always have a choice. if there's someone very scary next door that went order, or if five goddamn civs went autocracy and taking freedom would send your happiness down the toilet, then do what you have to.

number of cities: varies. you usually want 3-5, do not spam cities everywhere. other than your core, you only want to build cities to get strategic resources that you really need. oil and uranium, sometimes coal. captured cities should almost always be burned unless they have a wonder you want, good resources, or a strategic location. if you're burning a city and can help it, delay capturing any more cities until the first one burns, there's a bug that will permanently slow down your culture otherwise.

nukes: use them. a lot. everyone is going to hate your fucking guts by the time you've conquered one or two civs, so you might as well throw around casual atrocities.

research priorities: science buildings and ranged units, in that order.

buildings: science buildings > food buildings > everything else. use your best discretion beyond that. remember, not every city needs every building.

great people: if you're going for a cultural victory, make great works. if not, pop your writers for culture and your artists for golden ages, turn the musicians into great works. settle your scientists to make academies until you can make public schools, then start hoarding them. once you can make research labs, wait 8 turns until after you've built one in every city, then bulb them to slingshot your tech forward. engineers make wonders, do whatever you want with merchants.

specialists: this is complicated as balls to get into. science specialists are always good if your city can manage them. don't use gold or production specialists, pretty much ever (unless you're venice, venice has a whooooole different rule set). writer/artist/musician specialists are very good to have filled, but lower priority than scientists.

citizen placement: even more complicated. unless you're playing very high levels, you can just let the AI handle this.

I'm looking for some help recoloring the hair on a live-action PB.

Two ways this could work - first, if you're able to work with something already icon-sized, the journal I snagged icons from has a note that they're fine with people changing them. If you'd rather start with raw caps and just do it as part of a normal icon commission, that works too. (I'd like the former if it's doable, because the caps I found aren't quite the same frames, but whatever works better is really fine by me.)

It wouldn't be all that many, just 10-15.

depends on the context. in general, though, i warn heavily for pictures and put them under a link. i'll warn for death, mental illness, weight talk, heavy kinks, sex talk, talk about bodily functions, rape, self-harm, and mentions of the latter two.

obviously not all of those are triggers, just stuff someone might not want to read about. i use content warning instead of trigger warning for that reason.

i do, just to get an idea what it's going to be.

it was about the appearance of the character, not about the personality, anon. norman bates was intended to be a somewhat attractive young man in the movie, apparently hitchcock was behind that decision:

"The characterization of Bates in the novel and the movie differ in some key areas. In the novel, Bates is in his mid-to-late 40s, short, overweight and homely. In the movie, he is in his mid-20s, tall, slender, and handsome. Reportedly, when working on the film, Hitchcock decided that he wanted audiences to be able to sympathize with Bates and genuinely like the character, so he made him more of a "boy next door."[12]"

Pretty much this. I know a few friends who don't like certain things like snakes and spiders or really specific things that they just feel squicked by and so I put content warnings for those, too.
