rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. (Anonymous) 2015-11-18 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)guys send them because they're firing off a ton of messages per day. the response rate for men on okcupid is insanely fucking low, unless you're one of those tall-model-types with a six-figure income listed. partly this is because men tend to be more forward with asking women out, and women tend to sit and wait for the messages to come, because-- why not? they're getting so many. there's no point in messaging anyone if you're a lady. i'm guilty of this. i've sent maybe two initial messages as opposed to probably around 1,000 received.
except women don't want "hi" messages. they look shitty and boring and like you didn't read the profile. and a lot of times, men don't. they're so desperate for a reply they just click on some girl they find even remotely attractive and send a "hi", wondering if she'll say anything back. generally she doesn't. and so begins another round of "hi"s because this guy doesn't get responses even when he sends an interesting message with a hook or noticing something in her profile.
and the women continue not to reply because who the fuck wants to reply to a boring-ass "hi" message?
tl;dr online dating culture is obnoxious.
