rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

where the fuck do people find the shit they put on visualosities or those picture prompt memes.

like ok, i know, tumblr mostly, but like what tags?

honestly i think most of my collection is a culmination of me following picture blogs and collecting neat pics from them over a very long period of time, and then combing back over that collection whenever i want to put together something for a certain character

which still isn't very helpful to you probably, but uh otherwise...when tumblr doesn't cut it i'll also go to like, deviantart and such. sure, 70% of it is shit, but typing v general keywords into the search bar can help narrow down different kinds of pics for me too, and sometimes i can unearth nice images from there with a bit of patience

maybe other anons have other pic sites where you can run those kinds of searches. tumblr's kind of unfortunate for trying to find specific kinds of pictures using tags, since running tag searches always brings up a fuckton of other posts entirely unrelated to pics or art too...

what picture blogs do you recommend? I've been meaning to find some, but the ones I keep running into are dead.

in retrospect i should have been more specific, now that i think about the blogs im actually following--some of them are more like personal blogs where nice pics are reblogged a lot by the user, and others are more art than photography. but here's a handful of the more general blogs off the top of my head!

r2--d2 (lots of pretty photos of landscapes/architecture/general scenery, with animal shots and food shots here and there)
a-thousand-words (mostly quotes, but in that artsy sort of image format where people decorate the words or use certain mediums for them? it's neat)
8bitfiction (another quotes site, but prettying them up with a format that uses pixels and styles reminiscent of retro videogames)
phobs-heh (more art than photography, but a lot of it's really nice)
and ofc there's also rpvisualosites, as another anon mentioned below

pretty sure they just search for tags that relate to their character/prompt/mood or stumble on them and collect them for later use.

Pinterest is good too. Sometimes instagram. Very rarely polyvore but only if you want durpin' costumes.

There's a massive amount of tagged images there and I know a lot of people get most of their visualosities from that, which is also why you might see some of the same images used by EVERYONE

ironically enough, after i posted this thread, i went back to looking and ran into that very tumblr.

thanks though! at least I'll know to be a bit more careful with what I pick so I don't end up giving someone a cliché.

(tangent, but is this even the right usage of ironic? alanis morissette and homestuck wrecked what I thought this word meant istg)

if you still need suggestions, try http://levibus.tumblr.com/ for visuals as well and http://www.aseaofquotes.com/ for all your quote needs. also http://wordstuck.co.vu/ as a second choice to otherwordly, since that one doesn't update anymore as far as i know.

since you got a bunch of links, i'll tell a trick ive found with google. if you put in like something generic, you'll usually get stock photos. to get pretentious artsy photos, add tumblr to your search term. like 'dove tumblr' instead of just dove. doesn't always work but way better than straight googling
