I'm bad at this

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

He snaps out of it because of Leia more than anything. Win or lose, Alvin had nothing to do with it. It was just in that scene where they fight that he kind of grows up and overcomes his dependency on Milla. He has a whole speech about it and everything which doesn't really change by the outcome of the fight. It's the same speech. ("Milla isn't here to hold our hands anymore." etc.) He's talking to himself as much as he is Alvin. (Who was also over dependent on her.) But he's also still in love with her so it's not like that part disappeared. He just uses her less as a crutch after they are reunited.

Best example is what you used in Xillia 2. In Xillia he makes the decision on his own to help with spyrites. That right there is the full circle: he finally decides something on his own, for himself, without any guidance or pressure from anyone. So then in xillia 2 we see him owning that choice better than ever because it was his first one on his own.

I just think for all of Xillia/2's problems Jude's character development was not one of them. It was something I really loved about the game.

Disclaimer: I respect your opinion of course! I just like debating about Xillia/2 since it's my favorite.

I guess the main issue for me is how quickly he goes from "Milla isn't here, life isn't worth it anymore!" and not even eating to "well, Milla isn't here, life goes on" plus how Milla focused his development is. It's really hard to separate her crush on her from his growth as a person at least until X2 when he finally owns on his choices as you say.

Jude's development is good if we take his growth in X2 into account but speaking of the first game alone his development feels like they are telling you instead of showing you.

I'm not trying to say that your opinion is wrong either! Just sharing my opinions too. It has been a while since I played Xillia so I could be rusty but I remember being really frustrated with him haha.
