the problem being his obsession with her isn't because she's saber. gilgamesh values people who chase after their ideals and you will see this in CCC. i think he tells the main protag to fight for her love with all she has and he is very passionate when it comes to this.

this is the reason Gil doesn't like Saber Alter over Saber because Saber Alter has lost sight of her ideals in Heaven's Feel.

Also he isn't so interested in seeing her be destroyed by her ideals. I'd say his interest lies in testing the bounds people have because you have to remember he also very much so respects Rider who is just as passionate as Saber is. Except he sees Saber as ignorant on some points. He finds them both admirable in different ways.

In the context of how Gil treats women in general, if you're not comfortable with how overt he is you're not going to be very uncomfortable playing him. While you can tone it down for rp, and obviously should, it isn't lazy writing on Nasu's part persay. Epic!Gilgamesh sleeps with the brides of other people before they go off with their husbands basically because he's an asshole. He had slaves. He was a very well known tyrant. He kills people if they're not useful in his time as a king. He also believes, because of his time period, women do have a certain place in the world. While it isn't as repressive as, say, Victorian Period views of conservatism women still have their "roles" so to speak.

Part of his appeal (nor lack thereof depending on how you took it) is his sexual charm or A+ in Charisma (which can be applied to different things besides sexuality of course). He is a hedonist, he does mistreat people, and we just see the worst of it with Saber near the end of /Zero.

But you also have to understand Gil would also fall for someone like. . .idk Lagratha or Jane Bennet or idefk. . .Duchess Georgina type characters as well because of their massive amount of conviction to their causes. And he'd probably still be creepy about it depending on the circumstances. He's not shy about making sexual passes so. . idk anon i'd reevaluate your priorities if this particular theme weirds you out.

Anyway you should check out when he talks about his past in CCC because it will help immensely with fleshing out your interpretation.

if the oversexualized aspect bothers you, this is not a character you should be playing, full stop. agree with the rest too, gil does not respect women on the whole (or at the very least holds a very outdated view of them) and this isn't something that should be glossed over because it makes you uncomfy.
