rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. they have weird revision requests about samples

the way they're worded on the last page is odd

(With a disclaimer that I haven't read the app in question - I'm just scrolling down the revision requests and this stood out)

In a paragraph each?? I've been playing here for a year and have never written that much tl;dr for Ryslig. How long do these mods expect apps to be?

We're pretending to be fake people on the internet, not writing a dissertation.

the new mods probably have different standards. different, more pretentious standards.

a paragraph can be all of like three sentences, if a character has a trait it's not that hard to go "xyz shows abc by doing this and this. their abcness is affected by these circumstances and they tend to do thing when other thing happens. abc has the potential to help/hurt them in the rp setting."

i hate writing apps too but a revision like that shouldn't take more than ten minutes if you have any grasp on your character

Seriously. And if they ask you for a revision on your traits or anything else and then you don't do what they asked you to, it's your fault you got rejected, not harsh mods.

There is limited space here, so you won't be asked to revise for not including every single trait, but you WILL be asked to revise if the traits listed here seem to come out of nowhere or conflict with your personality section.

Honestly, I'm glad they're sticking to their guns on that one regarding traits that aren't listed in the personality section. That's what they use to pick a monster, so it'd be easy enough to see that a particular monster tends to have trait X and throw it in there with the rest of your traits even though there isn't much canon backing it up. Not saying that's what these players were doing because it seems like a general oversight, but I am glad to see the mods paying attention to that section.

(Now hopefully that means they'll also actually pick monsters based on traits instead of going for some silly joke relating to the character...)

we can only hope that there'll be less joke assignments now.

i got stuck with a 'joke' monster. it was something i was thinking of opting out of, but i didn't. sure as shit, i ended up with it. couldn't help but feel that the entire personality section of my app had been disregarded in favor of a stupid joke.

i hope so too, because i know there's a 'joke' monster that'd make my character have a really funny reaction at first but otherwise really doesn't seem to fit them at all (my character has a decent handful of monsters that'd be obvious fits, all of which i'm fine with)

one of my opt-outs was for a monster i couldn't see fitting my character in a million years, but that i really didn't want to get. now i'm thinking i should've slotted the joke monster in the opt outs instead. i don't even hate the joke monster, i just want something that works with my character's personality instead of a throwaway joke.

if it doesn't fit the personality traits you listed, you're probably not going to get it unless you picked either/conflicts. the mods don't actually deliberately give throwaway jokes that are permanent for characters, despite what people say.

i beg to differ. i know exactly why i got mine, and it really was a throwaway joke.

at the risk of outing myself i won't say who i played or what they were, but i know why i got it.
