rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

destiny au/oc game
(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 09:08 am (UTC)(link)for people who are unfamiliar with it, chances are you've at least heard of destiny as that game by the people who made halo that was hyped to hell and back, but ended up being filled with untapped potential and having a weak vanilla campaign. also peter dinklage and dancing.
destiny starts with humanity being visited by the traveler - basically a moon-sized, potentially omniscient in some way magic white orb - who shows up one day on mars. it moves to earth and then proceeds to "uplift" humanity into its golden age - human lifespan triples, old prejudices are erased, huge leaps in technology are made and humanity even colonizes other planets in the system (thanks to the traveler basically making a few of them habitable by humans -- venus because a planet covered in jungles). the golden age lasts about a few centuries, and then the traveler's ancient enemy only known as the darkness shows up, and everything goes to shit in really vague ways in an event known as the collapse. the traveler sacrifices itself to push back the darkness and either dies or goes into a coma (we aren't sure) in order to save the last remnants of humanity. at the same time, it also creates ghosts - little androids to go out and find and revive those among the ancient dead ones capable of wielding light (basically space magic) in order to fight back against the darkness, which had only been temporarily pushed back to the edges of the solar system, not defeated. afterwards humanity would enter its dark age which lasted another couple of centuries, with them being pushed back to earth and losing ground to several alien species that had invaded.
these revived beings are called guardians, and like i said they're chosen from their ability to wield light. light can manifest in many ways, but in the game they're channeled into three different classes: titan (warrior), warlock (mage) and hunter (rogue), with each class having three subclasses. guardians are basically immortal (save for under a few circumstances), as their ghost can revive them. it's also heavily implied they have no memories of their lives before being revived by their ghosts.
i'm trying to keep the lore part of this short but if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
anyway, about the game itself i don't really have a point in time for the game to take place in mind. i've considered following the game's original plotline up until now, or choosing some point during/after the taken king and going with a more slice of life/monster of the week approach. i don't even have the blueprints of this mapped out, so right now i'm pretty flexible about where it could go.
the game would also be au/ocs only, ocs because it'd make sense, you could app your guardians, and au because i think it'd fit better (i considered a "the darkness is also threatening your home" approach for ou but i didn't think it made a lot of sense), and also because i think a game like this would require a lot of managing and it'd be easier to work with a smaller playerbase.
like i said i don't really have a lot at this point, this is more like a throwing ideas out/just letting people know what it'd be about post. i know i left some things about the premise vague and unclear, it's just there's a lot to cover with destiny.

- having an overarching plot + monthly/weekly events is probably the best approach long as its a small playerbase and cap either cast numbers or characters per player.
- maybe its best that the game has it happen at the 'start' (something similar to the vanilla campaign where most of the players are newly resurrected and some players are veteran guardians) before going into the expansions plot? so that way people who dont know the game that intimately don't feel left behind?

will cryptarch still be a stingy ass over engrams if there's a reward system implemented?heck! if you need ever need a comod, let me know? i can help out with the plotting and updating lists and ac and talking to players and stuff if you need someone. october is hectic for me but after it it'll be smooth sailing and i really really want to see this game push through.
