Yeah, at this point Dennis's reveal is kind of like "Ok, but nobody cares" as far as his character relationships, but I think that Dennis betraying everyone was probably not the point of his character. They did that with Sora already and he was obvious from the very beginning.

So he's pretty much just been here to advance the plot from Academia's side in a way Sora couldn't, and they did a bang-up job with that in my opinion. I was not expecting the human side they showed from him while still keeping him very much a villain.

Well, he did bond with Yuuya a bit when he was introduced, but it would've been nice to see a bit more of that later on. Overall I just wanted more more fun entertainer Dennis doing fun things since he's my fave, haha. Like his performance duel with the extremely reluctant Gongenzaka. That one was a blast!

And yeah, Dennis staying surprisingly nice and reasonable was great. Didn't expect that after they ended the previous episode with the ultra evil hunting games face. But it really helps him to stay different from Sora, it was fun to compare the way they talk about the Heartland invasion (especially considering their roles in it) and deal with losing to Kurosaki etc. Obviously I'm biased, but I definitely want to see and know more about him.

I'm actually very happy that they didn't have Yuya freak out too much over the reveal with what did happen though. I'd say the bond between them is pretty slight since Yuya only warmed up to him when he claimed to be a fan of Yusho.... then again I believe Yuya has become more guarded against people trying to aggressively befriend him after what happened with Sora and that's super great negative character development.

So his feelings toward Dennis were probably "he's ok in my book" and he's more distraught by the fact that he'd be Academia after pulling the Dad card on him. It's an entirely different kind of betrayal than Sora and that is a beautiful thing! And yet, now that we know what we do about Dennis, it seems that his admiration of Yusho is probably genuine! Dennis now strikes me as a person that Yuya can reach, which will be a stepping stone to the more brainwashed, but more attached to the cast, Sora.

This defies my expectations because I was certain that Dennis was too tied up with Yuri to ever be a candidate for that kind of thing. But then, Dennis may also be a good stepping stone to reaching Yuri, as well. I'm sure he'll become very important.

I am saddened that he didn't have an Extra Deck full of creepy evil circus fusion monsters.

At first I was pretty disappointed too, but with the following episode it makes a lot of sense, especially when you compare him to Sora. The fusion element is completely integrated into Sora's deck, but Dennis just uses generic Antique Gears that are completely separate from the rest of his Entermage deck. Just like Dennis is an entertainer at heart while Sora is much deeper into the whole fusion mindset.

Also works as a neater way to tie him into the whole Heartland invasion thing, I suppose.

That's true. I guess I just have a soft spot for the old "circus of evil" trope.

Hate to tell ya, but YGO Anime is getting farther and farther away from Anime only cards (Smile World and the Bikers being the only ones so far in Arc V)

I can't think of any creepy evil circus fusion monsters at all. A few spellcasters but nothing like that.

Abyss Actors (Sawatari deck) slightly excluded (as they are more creepy fun then creepy evil) And that there is no Extra deck cards for them due to it being pretty damn new (but all the monster cards are Pendulum cards which is interesting)
