Well

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

so I'm looking for a new game and this one was pointed out to me but I had previously heard like nothing about it and I don't really see it around ATP. care to help an anon out, fellow anons?

what's it like here for pacing? for welcoming new characters/players? medium divide?

I'm sure if I thought for two minutes I'd have better questions to ask, but what's the general consensus on this game?

sa but looking again the medium divide looks pretty extreme, so I'm wondering if anyone knows if that might be a problem if I wanted to app a LA or book character? it doesn't really bug me but I know it can get weird to some people

I don't think it's a problem. The ones we've had and have haven't seem to had too much trouble getting tagged by people.

It's not that there's a medium divide so much as there's no LA in the game outside of the marvel cast. I'm not sure how LA's been received in the past because we haven't had much of it, but I don't think there should be any problems with book or LA characters.

The game has a very relaxed and laid back environment; it doesn't have too many problems and seldom shows up on rpanons or wankgate. Some people are slower taggers, some are faster, but most people tag fairly consistently and I'd put the game at a solid medium pace.

The game itself has its own plot, but the players are given a lot of freedom as far as player plots are concerned, and the world is given a lot of world building through tidbits on the test drive meme/intro logs and through the task board. The task board is a fantastic aspect of the game and gives the players a lot of opportunities to play around with different aspects of the setting. Players are also allowed to start their own business and in general are allowed to have influences over certain aspects of the setting, such as the other worlder (player character) branch of the Enforcers (the city's police force,) a couple of characters running a clinic/hospital and researching into the medical properties of magic emotion stuff, another handful of characters running and working at a restaurant, etc. I'd say how fleshed out the world feels is its strongest selling point; there are opportunities for pretty much any kind of character.

hi anon! I'll try to answer some of your questions.

Medium Divide:
I play animus, so the medium divide didn't bother me upon apping. But I will say that the LAs we have are pretty great, and seem to get plenty of CR with all of the non animus and animus alike. I personally have no problem tagging cross medium and I think I can say that most of the game is probably of similar mind.

Pace:
Medium paced to slow at times between events -- usually because there's a lot of backtagging going on in the event logs. THOSE, and the time during events can get a lot quicker. So overall it's a pretty average medium/slow between events and faster during. I have a pretty intense RL schedule but thanks to how backtag friendly the game is I have no problem keeping up.

OOC atmosphere / welcoming:
Personally, I think the game is very welcoming and has a very light and friendly atmosphere oocly. People seem open to doing player plots and events with others and the atmosphere on plurk is fairly positive.

Overall the game's quality of writers is overall average with a few going above and several below average. The mods are very approachable and answer questions in a pretty timely manner overall. Events can range from lighter less intensive things like balls, to things like this month's event where shit really hit the fan.

Honestly, there's never been a problem with the medium divide in any of the corners I tend to be playing in. LA, manga/anime, video game, western animation, comics, everybody plays together nicely as far as I can tell. We've had a few book characters in the past and I played an LA character myself for a little while, and I never had any problem getting tags. I just couldn't keep up a second character at the time.

Tag out in the mingles and write solid hooks and you'll be fine.

Most of the players don't give a shit about medium here. So unless you are one of the types of LA players who is going to perpetuate it, you won't have a problem. Heck, I'd like to see some more LA characters and book characters too, especially some who will be active and get involved.

Hey anon, I actually don't play in the game anymore, so I guess it's good timing I clicked on this thread by chance. I did actually rp a very obscure LA there awhile back, and while he had castmates, and I had some friends already in the game I still felt he was prettg well received by people in general.

Unless things changed in a few months people ar emp all struck me as very friendly and open to any and all cr.

As someone who apped in last month it's been a game I've recced to a lot of people. The pace is a lot calmer than previous games I've been in and everyone has been pretty fantastic on tagging/back tagging as needed. There were two events this month and people are still tagging evenly on both from what I've noticed.

I play from an anime but I've been tagged by every medium without a problem, but then I also tag around to anyone and everyone (I've never understood medium divide issues). Someone who has been in the game longer might have a different thought on if there is or isn't a divide problem though.

echoing the anon above about the calmness of this game! when I apped, I wasn't even expecting how nice the place would be, and to my surprise I've grown to love the game. the pace is comfortable and tagging here has been a blast, especially back tagging! it gives you a lot of wiggle room to get creative with things such as monthly job listings and/or events when they pop up, such as the one we've just had. over all, i think it's really cute with its moments of seriousness, and it's certainly a game i would recommend trying out.

i also play from an anime, but i've also been tagging without really thinking of a divide? i love tagging characters, and which medium they come from doesn't weigh in on that. i've gotten cr from la and mang and vg alike. i haven't seen much of a divide either, as players seem to tag out quite openly, but that's just me.

Don't expect quality. This isn't a game you join if you want good writing and hooks from your fellow players. This is a game for mostly brainless tagging with mostly sub-par people. I get more one-liner, half-assed tags from this game than from any other game I've ever played in.

That being said it's because of the above that the atmosphere here is chill. No one has any expectations so everyone just does what they want and no one really cares. It's nice in that way because you can have fun in a relatively judgement free zone.

But this is largely an unpopular opinion and mostly my own experience so take that as you will.
