I haven't watched Crystal since Chibi came in but it's not that bad. The original anime was pretty terrible too; only difference here is we're getting 100% less filler, which, thank god.

And I prefer the manga outers, especially Uranus and Neptune.

I've been rewatching the original series and it really isn't all that bad.

And I don't mind the filler episides. they could be pretty weird and and some could be bad, but they did a great job of highlighting the other characters and giving more of the senshi bonding which was never a bad thing.

and? better the dumb plots that actually gave the senshi characteristics and likeability than bland cardboard cutouts and the literally insane pace that happened in the stars manga.

as true as that is, anon, the original anime had a very big problem of that development ultimately not mattering as characters would revert to whatever the default was week after week. Very few things that weren't tied to the main plot seemed to ever matter.

Chibiusa and Usagi constantly reverting kills me every time.

them especially. it's like, cool, we get an episode where they both mature and grow as people and all that shit and by the next episode they're back to their petty awkwardly incestuous rivalry over Mams again.

sorry about your taste, haruka's entire personality was 'genderbender lesbian seductress creep' and michiru did not have one at all, nor did they remotely seem to care about each other

it's more fun to watch people shit themselves over sm crystal, than to watch crystal itself

we're getting 100% less filler, but instead they're adapting it at one chapter = one episode, which is a fucking insane pace considering that chapters could range from 25 pages to 70 pages, and the manga itself was often rushed so the anime would have more to work with.

I laugh when people complain about the pacing in Crystal. You wanted something that followed the manga more closely. YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW, the manga's pacing was way too fast.

you can adapt the manga without literally copy/pasting it, though. You can smooth out the pacing and make it work better as an anime. Crystal isn't doing that.

Exactly. It could have fixed the problems the manga had instead of making them worse.

i'm rewatching the original anime right now and it's literally the stupidest and most juvenile thing i've ever seen. still fun, but very dumb and clearly for 9 year olds.

It has its charms, and some moments that are really good that aren't found in the manga.

Unfortunately, when it's bad, it's really bad. R is pretty bad. SuperS is fucking atrocious.
