Yeah, I don't think they'd go for that. I remember hearing that they've got no interest in a 18+ BL titles. Which isn't surprising, considering how they prioritize all ages versions of their licenses over the 18+ versions.

which is probably why they're stuck right now if they want to appeal to bl fans. since most bl games tend to be 18+, they either have to ditch their "all-ages titles only" stance and start picking up 18+ bl like they're doing right now for their yuri games or seek out doujin games that have a chance of failing due to how obscure they are.

pretty much this. sekai project isn't really my first choice when it comes to 18+ bl, and their translations are... okay-ish at best. there's already mangagamer, a company who has no problems translating explicit content, who does plan to translate more bl. and jast might be interested in the bl scene assuming that statement they made earlier this year was true.

as much as i would like to see more companies translate games from the genre, sekai project isn't really it.

Exactly. If they want to try to appeal to female visual novel fans and stick to all ages, they'd be better off trying their hand with otome titles not BL.

Which I'm kinda surprised that they didn't try for otome titles already. If they went for and kickstarted the more popular titles, I could see them being successful.

well, if you want to be technical, sekai project is publishing the pc version of an otome oelvn called purrfectly ever after, which was successfully funded on kickstarter, on steam on behalf of an indie group.

for japanese vns, i agree though. they've already received requests* for titles such as diabolik lovers, black wolves saga, heart no kuni no alice, etc, so i'm amazed they haven't gone for those at this point. i can understand that sekai isn't going to be able to nab every otome game license out there (especially diabolik lovers since it's otomate and rejet's cash cow). however, like you said, the otome scene has a bigger pool of all-ages games to choose from in contrast to bl's smaller selection.

maybe if purrfectly ever after sells well, sekai will probably look more into localizing japanese otomege next?
