rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

shoutout to everyone still looking for that specific pairing on this shitshow of a site

I gave up on trying to trudge through this site. Now my profile's just a link for my characters kink list.

found someone who played that specific character, sent them a message asking if they'd like to play (didn't friend them or hound them or anything), and they said they'd love to and even agreed to some ideas i had

then, after promising to start something, radio silence for months

i understand if they got cold feet, but they could have at least told me they weren't feeling it

i found a partner for my crossover otp on this site, they are so good at the character, and we have so many matching kinks

i am truly blessed

How the hell do you find anyone on here? Do you go into groups? Is there a "dreamwidth rper's guide to f-list" type thing somewhere?

groups are useless. f-list's main draw is the chat, which has many different irc-esque channels you can go into. you can then post ads and see if anyone responds to you, you can look at other people's ads and see if any strike your fancy, or you can sit in a channel and attempt to roleplay in it

some channels have better public rp in them than others

Most of my F-List RP has come through the search function. In the mood for a particular kink or kink combination? Search for it. Looking for a particular character? Use search to find profiles with that name mentioned in them.

This got even easier when they added the ability to filter for people who've logged in within days. This way you don't end up looking at a bunch of profiles for people who haven't logged on in years.

Otherwise, follow the usual common-sense rules for approaching people for PSLs/whatevs here. Don't be a douche, don't try and badger someone into rping with you, etc. etc. Fair warning: people seem to ghost, as opposed to saying 'no thanks', a lot more over there. This doesn't really bother me, but you've been forewarned.

Some additional cultural advice:
- you may see a lot of hub profiles. These are convenient if your idea is something like 'I want to play a tentacle monster!' or 'I'd like to play any of the Sailor Scouts' and don't feel like making a new profile for every crazy thought to pop into your head. Perhaps you might be thinking of making such a profile (or perhaps not). Just so you know, there's a certain contingent of people who will automatically assume you're a shit-tier for doing that. Those people are almost universally douchebags, though, so you aren't missing much.
- you might also stumble across someone who has Opinions That Must Be Shared(tm), either in their profile or their custom kinks. You'll know this person when you see them because they'll be talking forever about how only losers say 'hello' when approaching them, and only sickos like this kink or that kink (their fetish for getting peed on is apparently perfectly aboveboard 9_9), etc. etc. These people are douchebags too. Avoid.
- anyone who hides a codeword in their profile that you have to use when approaching them? Also a douchebag.

people don't like hub profiles because they are usually bad. i've seen some good ones, hell i'm rping with one right now, but for the most part hub profiles are bad, lazy, and the players don't contribute any ideas to a scene/are generally difficult. that's my experience with them anyway, definitely not trying to keep someone from making a hub profile if that's what they wanna do because it's a useful idea

p much agree with everything else you have to say but ive only encountered codeword profiles maybe once so idk why people tend to mention that as some big warning

fuck this site's namesquatting policies that are so easy to exploit loopholes

i requested the name of my character to the staff and they said "yeah ok he hasnt updated in 10 months lets contact him and see if he'll give it up" and of fucking course he wont

now he went and added a tiny bit of info to the profile so i cant ask for the name for another almost-year and since i've already gotten in trouble with that member of staff before i'm too afraid to mention that he's loophope exploiting, but he's just going to sit there and continue not doing anything with the profile

why did they fucking ask him instead of just letting me use it since he hadn't updated? he's a namesquatter! namesquatters don't give up their names!
