episode 11: we kind of resolved what little conflict we had left (and shhh about undoing the progress nao's brother went through) so have some SUDDEN TERRORISTS to spice things up

also, let's kill off kumagami and have shun cry over it because that'll make people sad, right

the sudden terrorists weren't really sudden, imo. there's no way shun magically got rid of the people who hunt down abilities users by building a school.

i'm more annoyed at how we've tossed aside the student council for shun's group. Jun Maeda didn't learn from the AB! cast clutter at all and I'm really disappointed. i sometimes wonder if it's because he's simply accustomed to writing stories for various characters rather than just a few.

It was sudden IMO since the terrorists were never foreshadowed at any point in the story. Up until episode 11, the only threat to the ability users we've been hearing about were the scientists (and possibly the government). Beyond them, there's been no hints or mentions of any other groups like the terrorists who might want to use the ability users for their own gain.

If they either 1) introduced the terrorists before the last 2-3 episodes of the show or 2) actually did some proper foreshadowing of their existence beforehand, then their appearance wouldn't have been so sudden.

that's... really not true at all, anon. nao's bee going on about groups like them ever since she beat the crap out of yu. just because they weren't constantly mentioned doesn't mean they didn't exist.

the thing is that shun went back constantly trying to avoid guys like them. but instead now they've been trying to find a loophole in his loophole. i mean, i guess it's awfully convenient that an organization like that only decided to pop in after yu realizes what his real ability is, but their existence isn't really sudden in of itself.

you mean the thing where she vaguely alludes to maybe there being other groups besides the scientists in what? episode 1? 2?

and then episodes 2-10 never build up on it in favor of primarily focusing on how the SCIENTISTS are the threat nao's talking about before episode 11 rolls around and goes

"you know how you're expecting the scientists to actually show up? because we talked so much about it? they actually don't matter! here, have some random terrorists instead."

that's not good foreshadowing or even good writing in general. if you're going to spend so much time building up on A, then the audience will actually expect you to follow up on A. you can't just make A suddenly irrelevant in favor of shoving in B at the last minute. if B was more important than A, then you need to build on that from the very start instead of doing what charlotte did here.

i'm more wondering why yu or shun didn't just consider having yu time leap back a couple of days or so to prevent nao and kumagami's kidnappings or at least to come up with some sort of rescue plan

instead of, y'know, having them play right into the terrorists' hands so the writers can kill kumagami off

because the terrorists said that if anything changed from their plans, then they'd assume that they changed the past and that they would kill off the driver guy's family. shun is a bleeding heart apparently, so.

personally, when that episode happened, i thought it was strange that she was suddenly dead and figured that some reveal involving her would happen. so, i thought that was obvious, tbh.

but, yeah, this is maeda and considering LB, i won't be surprised if anyone who dies comes back alive. he's right now though, so.

questions so far:

- why the fuck are yusa/misa and jojiro even in this show if they're not going to be involved in the actual plot?
- apparently everyone at the school's distant from nao for... some reason. why is that? also in episode 5, nao gets beaten up by a group of girls at the back of the school because, in the girls' words, "first, this one's for rika! next, this one's for yuriko!". will we ever learn what was the deal with that?
- you know how yu traveled back in time to prevent ayumi's death? it kind of, uh, undid the progress nao's brother went through. will that ever get mentioned?
