pretty much. speaking as a vegetarian, i acknowledge that the moral distinction between the living things we choose to eat and those we don't is driven by preference, health or sentiment, rather than a genuine scientific imperative. plants just happen to be the least visibly reactive to my human eye and the least likely for me to empathise with, so i don't feel particularly guilty about eating them.

though airt - there has actually not been a study proving plants can 'feel pain' that i know of. they react to environmental stimuli in terms of growth and feeding behaviors, but that's different from experiencing pain. they're still living things with primitive intelligence, however.
