Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.

Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

nvm, looked it up myself.

she's almost immune to magic

This should say magical spells. Like I said above, Caster's magic attacks have no effect on her in canon. Weapons with magical properties like Gae Bolg or Shirou's projections can still harm her.

That's in her own universe though, right? Who's to say she'd be awarded complete immunity against every single kind of magic in every single universe? The point of rp is collaboration, and being unable to make any allowances for your characters god-mode-level strength is both boring and inconsiderate to fellow players.

just because a character is all-powerful in their own universe doesn't mean they get to reign supreme over other characters that are all-powerful in their canons. or even sort-of-powerful.

their comment on the tournament entry post just tells me they want to have their character come out on top with no argument. not to mention i haven't seen any actual personality in any of their tags. so not only do they seem like a powergamer, they also seem like a really boring powergamer.

I hate to be negative, but it really is a chore to tag them back because they put almost nothing to go off of. They never post to the gamewide HMD (seeing as they don't have a journal one either), so it's difficult to crit them without socking it up.

i've had this exact experience more than once. the fact that the player doesn't have an hmd anywhere is a pretty big indication that they're not interested in crit, either.

And now on their CR meme post they're saying they want Saber to go for the third commander position in the Enforcers?

But she isn't in the Enforcers...

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
She can't become third commander without an IC vote, so there isn't too much issue. There's little reason for characters to vote for her. She's not in the enforcers and I can't think of anytime she's really led, nor does she come off as someone who'd work well with the group.

Exactly, and the player should realize that. I think it looks kind of bad on them to say something like this at the same time that they're being side-eyed for potential powergaming. Like, I've seen other games have trouble with their Sabers being overpowered too so that's easier to shrug off as a canon flaw that nobody handles well. But to suddenly want her to have a leadership position in a group they've ignored for months makes it look like they just want her acknowledged as important and in charge.

Doesn't this person also play Touhou Alice? They had a kind of sketchy thread with Edea after the Junko reveal where Alice said she herself was the first person to figure Junko out, and she didn't want the whole town to know, but she wanted Edea to recognize her for it. Maybe I'm the only one who was put off by it, though.

tbh everything I know about touhou tells me most of the characters are obnoxious (possibly fun as characters, but would be obnoxious as real people) so when I saw that thread I figured it was just being ic. I don't know Alice specifically tho.

i was side eyeing that too. "look at my character being such a smart snowflake" kind of vibes. i don't know if that's the character's personality or not but coupled with the fact they're trying to grab for attention and powergame with saber... it doesn't leave a good impression.

Re: sa

agreed. i use to play saber and she is among the most op servants in fsn. the way i got around the problem was by saying she was naturally weakened on the land of the world the game takes place in, which is a legit thing for magic characters (it was essentially the reason one major magic family in the canon basically died out in terms of their magic potential)

it just seems common sense to assume that fate rules don't apply outside the canon, period

i mean otherwise nothing short of nuclear bomb blasts harms a servant as far as conventional weapons go and that's just fucking ridiculous to play against

Also isn't it pretty much a given that every character was nerfed at least enough to make them killable?
