We haven't earned it

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

yeah, me too. it'd be easier to count for one thing, and almost all the people with massive wordcounts are the "one line of dialogue, a bit of action, 5 paragraphs of introspection" type writers which...doesn't seem to be adding much to the game itself? woo-hoo, a wall of text i can't respond to without infomodding. RP isn't fanfic, and going by wordcount just seems to be such an arbitrary metric of Effort. i don't ramble well and i'm not an introspection-heavy writer, that doesn't mean my tags didn't have effort put into moving the scene along and giving interesting hooks.

i don't think many people want to write absolute substanceless ecats tags for boon points anyways, and if they did people would likely avoid threading with them again and/or crit them on it.

Unfortunately, I think the issue is more that they mods have to have an objective standard about these things because past players in this game have proven to be the sort that will take advantage of any leeway and complain about why this person got a thing but this one didn't and etc. We had to get strict standards about what makes a character appable, and what counts as completing a quest and all that, because while it'd be nice if people could just use common sense for these things, it's too easy for assholes to try to get away with bullshit like the Tolkien canon OCs we had back at game start because there weren't technically rules against them and it's a pain in the ass for mods to have to come down on people that can throw a fit about how there's nothing that says they can't so this is so unfair!!1!
