It's not that stupid?

It's a pretty common writing trick to "prime" a reader for a future event. Chloe has been dodging death throughout the series because Max has the power to rewind and save her, which would threaten to undermine her "real" death at the end of Episode 4. Alt!Chloe's "real" death subconsciously plants the idea of an irreversible Chloe death so that your reaction to her headshot isn't immediately "eh whatever".

to be honest, the majority of people's reactions from what i've seen have basically amounted to "eh whatever" because everyone is certain max will use warren's photo to rewind. i do hope the alt timeline stuff does end up becoming significant though, hopefully tying into the rachel amber mystery in some way. if they play everything from this episode straight i'll be pretty disappointed.

What's weird is that the first photo established a few rules:

- Can't move outside the confines of the photo
- After the change is made, Max is returned to the exact time she used the photo, but in the altered world.

So I'm half-expecting her to use the photo to tell Chloe it's Jefferson, then having the game immediately skip to BOY HOWDY THAT WAS SOME CLIMATIC FIGHT SCENE WE HAD, GOOD WORK EVERYONE.

idk for me personally, because i killed her in the au, it was just kind of like i've seen this already. and besides her au death had a bigger emotional impact on me to begin with because there was a lot of buildup to it and it put the actual choice in my hands. with the real death it was just kind of like "oh. well that happened."
