Macross: it can meander sometimes, but overall it's a very solid series. It invented a lot of the tropes you see in Gainax/Trigger stuff, if that helps. The love story can be frustrating sometimes because Hikaru is an oblivious jerkass and Minmei's mostly a dipshit. Definitely recommend, tho, if for , no other reason than Roy Focker, aka, ProtoKamina.

Urusai Yatsura: Ranma with aliens. If you like Takehashi, watch it. Otherwise, pass.

Matsumoto: you will grow a full beard, his shit is so manly. Fair warning, tho: Matsumoto literally only had four faces before he got a fifth one in Interstellar 5555. If you want to start with Harlock, go for Arcadia of My Youth, then hit the TV series next. Fair warning: until heDefinitely watch this guy's stuff, tho.
