¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CONSIDERING WATCHING

It's fairly slow to start and there are some pacing flaws, which is a problem for a season that's so short. The cast is predominately white (I'm not sure if there is a person of color in it? if so, they don't have a big role). The sexism is really blatant and it gets pointed out so much it sometimes feels like they are pandering.

I love Peggy, but she becomes the only Competent Female in the show, the only one capable of breaking down the patriarchy, and that's too much to put on one woman.

All of that being said, it's still amazing and fun and Peg is awesome.

This is a good summary. Re: diversity, the biggest PoC roles are part of a group cameo, which speaks volumes in its own way. It's valid to be bothered by this; the flip side is it probably would have been mishandled and toxic if they had tried something on this front. The gender politics are fairly messy as it is due to devolving into Exceptional Womanism.

Atwell delivers a pretty amazing performance. There's some badass sequences and decent wit. Recommend giving it a try to see if it's your speed and going from there.
