I assumed it was just because it would be harder to find art of more variety, assuming they didn't commission an artist

yeah, that's sort of the thing. there's way less art of masculine sexy creatures than there is of feminine ones. can't really blame them for taking what's available.

further looking at the pictures shows that it seems they managed to find the entirety of their menagerie via one artist, so yeah, that makes sense. it has a running aesthetic theme instead of different art for each creature. i don't mind it (and no, i'm not in neckbeard fandoms and don't generally like anime) and it's not like you have to model your choice after it. it's a place holder. unclench.

here's a thought: don't look at them. or you can adblock them if they offend you that much. problem solved. either play and enjoy it, which has nothing to do with the pictures, or don't play and don't look at the pictures, which, hey, also as nothing to do with the pictures. look at that. you don't have to look at the pictures.

I think most people who are turned off by the aesthetic are going to just that: not app. You don't need to defend it so hard if you don't care.

and you need to stop calling everyone calling out your stupid opinion a whiteknight. why not just say 'well, it's a great premise, but i don't like horror or body transformation'. it's a fucking pointless comment to make.

Doing a couple Google Image searches came up with some really nice looking art for some of the different monster types.

I guess if you want to find a set that looks like they all go together, that's one approach. But to me, the images are what makes it all look so neckbeardy. That big-breasted pastel hentai-moe look just does not say "sexy" to me at all.

not being rude, but so what? this is a barely-serious game about monster transformation sex. it doesn't need really nice looking art or anything super serious. the pictures kind of set the tone for the game. it's all about the tentadick. or hemipeen. or arachnavag. whatever.

sorry to pick your comment for this, anon, but it's just getting really annoying seeing people pick the most pedantic things apart when a brand new game pops up. if it's not about ocs, it's about the age limit. if it's not about that, it's some sort of aesthetics thing. if it's not that, it's eww, anon mods. like, come on.

This always happens with new games and you falling over yourself to whiteknight isn't going to do a damn thing to stop it getting scrutinized like every other new game.

it's not getting scrutinized, though. it's usually someone coming in and smearing their personal preference over something someone else did. if people want things to cater to their personal preferences that much, they can make their own. 'i don't like the art' isn't going to do anything to help the game. it doesn't make it better to have a different picture there. it's aesthetic preference and people need to learn when to just not say something.

it's like someone coming in with a new outfit and walking up and going 'ugh, i don't like that pattern. it's so juvenile. maybe you should pick something better'. it's unnecessarily rude and doesn't take into account the wearer's taste.

pretty much, I'm hella cheap, it's quick way to get a matching art style across the board for all the monsters while still pushing the gist of what each creature is.

It's cuter than I'd like, but it does the job. With the corruption of champions route of everything's got at least one vaguely fetishy feature it's not exactly out of place.

i'm so conflicted. i like the art because it matches and that's cool, but the art itself sets a sort of weird tone for the game — like everyone is going to be rping CoC style hyper sexual with vapid anime characters, which is totally not want i want to play with. :( but the game itself is a great idea and seems fun! i just feel like the layout/presentation will draw a crowd that i don't want much to do with.

but i don't wanna be a dick to a fresh new game, and i do wish you the best of luck! if you don't pull a terrible crowd i will totally be there.

not for nothing, but most of the people that are interested in monster types are going to join a game regardless of the art type. i only play la and i'd happily join this if i had the time. i just don't get the buzz around the art. who cares. the art of any game doesn't make players play differently.

good! that's encouraging to hear someone say so. i feel the same, but i just have this sinking feeling that the opening will be like the opening of tana, with a sea of colorful young-looking anime and like one western cartoon. i'm not usually a medium snob, but it's hard not to feel a little outgunned in that.
