The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. If you are literally incapable of appreciating the fact that you, your family, and your pets are alive after a horrible accident then you need to join OP in therapy.

if someone says 'my house burned down' you do not actually know if their family or pets are alive, you dipshit. further, if someone's house burned down, they are now homeless and without possessions, most probably, so being alive probably isn't much of a comfort. maybe you could offer to help or express *actual sympathy* instead. but that takes a lot more effort than meaningless platitudes, and i'm guessing most of you are the shallowest of assholes.

what are you even talking about? nobody is going to say shit about family and pets as their immediate reaction to someone who tells them their house burned down, they're going to ask about what happened
