It sucks if someone can't just magically make themselves comprehend things better or their ability to see/understand words is wonky, but they shouldn't be given any sort of free pass for that disability. People who act like raging bitches because they're off their meds don't get free passes and people who make those mistakes without a clinical reason don't get them."

The stupidity in this comment is literally rpanons in a nutshell.

tell them that you don't want to ship with them right from the start and don't give them anything they could see as a "hope" that you might change your mind

tag them as you would do to anyone else, nothing more and nothing less

if they get butthurt or ignore your 'warnings', gather proof of their bad behavior and go to the mods asap

if you are ~mysteriously~ namedropped on wg or somewhere else, keep an eye on these namedrops which probably will come from them

Just about every fan will admit that the first half of the first season is slower (though I still have some favorites from there). Mirror Gem/Ocean Gem is where it picks up and they start to show things are a little more complicated than they first appeared. If those two don't get your interest, it just probably isn't your thing.

Oh, that is a really good point, I'll definitely keep it in mind. I tend to interpret silence as a sign they're uncomfortable but perhaps that isn't always the case.

As someone who dabbled in IJ and Tumblr I assure you we don't have less fun. We're pickier about some things but they're pickier about others.

Thank you, it really warms my heart to hear that from someone aside from my friend [who is always so thankful for everything I do]. They're a wonderful person and I'd love to see them get better.

Sometimes I get worried about asking about something they decline often even if they tell me they want to do it, because I'm afraid of the repeated asking sounding pushy or annoying. As I said, I try to be as gentle and reassuring as possible. I think they're also sorta afraid of saying no to some people, but I don't appear to be one of them, thankfully.

all the jojos are everything i had hoped for and more

dw and tumblr are the only major canon-character roleplay sites that i know of. everywhere else is all ocs, all the time, so people have less of a rod up their asses about always being rigidly in character at all times (except for buttsex purposes, of course).

in my experience, we tend to be way more strict about icness and writing quality. not that other rpers don't care at all, but in general i've seen a much laxer attitude, a lot more "let it slide for the sake of fun", and you only seem to get called on it if it's really bad. on that note we're also waaay more into leaving and receiving crit.

imo the interesting thing about dwrp is that we're really focused on the writing side of rp, with characterization and wordsmithing prized above all else. other sites i've been on seem to be more about the social end of it, where the whole point is to play around with your friends (or potential friends) and have the coolest character and have fun, not so much get every nuance down. (ofc this is just based on my own experiences so i might be missing some other rp cultures here /disclaimer)

oh and also we're like...the only rp culture that looks down on ocs. there's that too.

it gets more emotional and more of a running plot later on but i'd say the tone is pretty much the same. i love the show but i honestly don't find it omg edge of my seat amazing. i like it because it's relaxing and cute.
