Don't bother

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Does it help, hurt, or just confuse you when people on Tumblr tell each other not to post untagged food during Ramadan?

it amuses me. the hardest part about fasting is the thirst. your mouth gets so dry and dry mouth gets you bad breath but there's nothing i can do about it. the second hardest part is the fatigue, which for me starts to set in some time in the late afternoon. that turns me dazed and lethargic and the minutes feel like they're passing by much slower. it's the worst! but food poses little to no temptation for me. i don't mind anyone eating or drinking in front of me as they have the right to eat and drink just as i have right to fast by choice, right? i sometimes join my friends out to lunch just for the company too. so no, food doesn't tempt me, let alone pictures of food on tumblr. you see, the point of fasting during Ramadan for me is to exercise the power of mind over body. the fasting is the method, not the end goal. i don't need to be coddled and protected from food.

if you want to help me during this month, don't bother with tumblr tags, those are irrelevant to me. if you want to be understanding and tolerant of muslims during this time, don't treat us as different from you. we're the same, we just happen to believe in different things and that's ok, you know? if you want to help, say hi to us and talk to us like people, not some precious snowflakes to be protected from even the mention of food during conversation. we're not that special and we're not that different from you.

of course, if people are telling each other not to leave food untagged on tumblr just to score sjw points then, well, that's their business and i don't care for any of that

you actually basically answered what I was wondering- how on earth do you handle not drinking

especially with it being summer, it's hotter than satan's asshole over here and i've been wondering how my muslim classmates survive
