Don't bother

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

For me I've never had a problem with rping casual dating (unless it would be totally ooc for the characters to do that for whatever reason). For me the problem is how quickly people have their characters fall madly in love. Within an ic month you'll already see couples saying they love each other and will definitely stay together forever and ever, and within like three months they're already married. People like their extreme devotion I guess. But for most characters, it's weird that they're already psychotically devoted to someone they met two weeks ago.

I see that happen in real life too.

but I guess, as far as fictional characters go, people like that are in the minority. or are they. I don't know. but that's definitely totally legit and i might side eye that too. even if I played a ship that got married pretty quickly, but that was mostly because they were like "why the hell not tho" rather than a great big show of devotion for all eternity. SHRUG.

but idk that never seems to be the thing people are specifically complaining about... :|a

I find casual dating hard in anything but SoL games, because characters have strong emotions when people they know are in life or death situations, pushing them quickly out of casual territory. People in dangerous situations in real life bond quickly, and it always feels artificial to write a slow burn when the constant threat of being separated by death or disappearance hangs over the relationship.

this is my problem with fast ships tbh, i'm fine with casual dating in rp but when people act like their characters are ~soulmates~ after like two months of dating, yeah no, that's way too childish and disney for me
