this weirds me out so much

i mean there's nothing wrong with it whatsoever but i personally feel so immature still, i can't imagine having kids, especially not other people sharing my dorky hobby i've been doing for way too long

why would it weird you out? adults need hobbies to. after dealing with kids and s/os for the day, you need a little you time. whether that's movies/games/rping, there's nothing wrong with taking a few hours to try to enjoy yourself with your own hobby.

just because you feel too immature doesn't mean they do. and fyi, as a parent? you don't suddenly become too cool for school. being a parent doesn't make you more mature than other people. it just means you're responsible for more than your own welfare. rp has nothing to do with maturity levels.

RP also is a good hobby because it's overall inexpensive and doesn't require leaving the house and one can walk away if some disaster happens that needs mom or dad's attention.

dude i just said there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. it weirds me out simply because i then envision myself having kids which freaks me out. it has nothing to do with anyone else or their ability to be responsible, i just think about myself in their place. that's all.

and before some antichildfreewhatever person comes in, i totally love kids and all my nieces and nephews, but i'm just not ready to have one myself and don't think i ever will be

then it was a badly phrased comment. someone mentions someone who rps having kids and you reply with it weirding you out. if you don't want kids, power to you. i don't think everyone should have them and i know a fair few who have them who shouldn't. kids are not part of some pyramid of adulthood, not some level you have to achieve to be a real adult. i completely get not wanting to have them and i don't judge anyone or hold it against them in any way. it's your life. you're entitled to live it how you want.

but yeah, i'm going to kind of knee-jerk respond with 'um wtf' when you type out a statement like that. if you're going to reply with 'kids weird me out eww', expect people to reply to it in a possibly not understanding manner.

dude they elaborated literally in the next sentence. if they had just left it at rpers having kids weirds me out, period, then you'd have a case. but they went on to like immediately explain that there was nothing wrong with it but that it was because they couldn't see themselves in that position.

so why make the comment in the first place? just to point out how weird they feel about having kids? yes. we get it. kids are weird parasites. not every opinion needs to be shared.

where did they say kids were weird parasites. also no one needs to know about our bra sizes or our bank accounts or anything like that either, but we talk about that shit here too.

ia it is a little weird, but i feel that way any time someone in my social circle or my age gets married/has kids. it's only because i'm not in a place where i feel ready for any of that so it's a weird feeling to compare yourself to that

i know parents aren't a different species or anything but sometimes they seem that way. and tbh being raised in a culture where parents aren't really seen as "relatable" or even interesting doesn't help but that's a whole different mindboggling discussion

The only thing that weirds me out is imagining these people who are married with kids possibly going on Wankgate and trying to ruin someone's life for daring to play out yaoi from a cartoon about guys who swim a lot or something.

i used to work at a kindergarten. parents can be viciously petty and terrifying. the parent on parent aggression was real. snack time rotations, bake sales, and plays are serious motherfucking business.
